Veteran comedian Willie Nepomuceno plays presidential candidates in a mock reality talent search, Presidentiables' Gut Talent at the Music Museum, which has the crowd coming back for more. Nepomuceno delivers punch line after punch line like his Joseph "Erap" Estrada impersonation explaining what Erap means, "E for Intelligent, R for Articulate, A for Empowerment and P for Philandering." He tells TV Patrol, "Ang sa akin naman, magkaroon ng konting light moments. So maging parang biruan but beyond the biruan, if you read between the lines, andun 'yung mensahe na 'Hoy, gising.'"
The fun doesn't stop there—“Nepomuceno appeared as Aquino on the "Politicomedy" segment of ANC's Strictly Politics. "Three million out of [the five million] signatures [in the signature campaign for me to run] were signed by Kris [Aquino]. She's used to signing autographs. One million [signatures were] thumb marked by Baby James."
A University of the Philippines student Nepomuceno invited to perform in his 1986 show, Balimbing, is also providing laughs amidst the political chaos these days. Jon Santos, a veteran comedian as well, plays his spot-on Imelda Marcos in political sorties. In the video below, Santos' Imelda dances a tweaked version of "Single Ladies."
According to the TV Patrol report, both impersonators don't endorse any politicians and don't intend to go after any of them. "Trabaho lang at walang personalan."
Presidentiables' Gut Talent has a repeat show on May 6, 8:30 p.m. at the Music Museum.
