Does anybody know who's the manager at the Univers Kaizen in Mall of Asia? I had a bad experience with their colorist name Billy and wants to send their boss a letter of complaint. I don't want to send my letter there as it may not fall in the right hand, but would want to talk to the manager anyways. If I need to go get a 5k haircut, I would probably do so, just so I could complain to their boss in person. The beauty business is a service business, and therefore, staffs should be well trained to talk to clients, and makes sure that he or she are well taken cared of. It's what makes your client loyal to you. It's unfair when the staff's bad behavior reflects on the business and the owner's name, but as I've said this is a service business and the owners should make sure that he hires and trains their people well. Everybody is raving about the service in their Rustan's branch maybe because the boss is there and makes sure that everything is handled well. If this salon at the Mall of Asia is supposed to be the same level as Emphasis and Basement I would have to beg to disagree. Both of these salons, of which I am loyal to, have impeccable service. I just go to Univers as my last resort when I don't have time to go to Makati and I have to have my hair colored because of an event or party that I have to go to. I live near MOA and its very convenient for me. I won't take this sitting down just because their supposedly good colorist is not in the mood to be nice to his clients. I don't want to be rant at just because they are understaffed and probably tired. You don't talk to clients that way. It just goes to show that you were not properly trained or you don't have any breeding at all. Please relay this comment to your boss if anybody of you still works for him. I am trying to search for your company email so I could send my complaint but can't find it. I brought my mom and my sister and my daughter to your salon at various times and I think in these hard times you need all the customer that you can get.

Tried having my haircut at Shuji Kida today... I was very scared at first since Shigeki seemed to be cutting to much hair (I already had very short hair) and I was laughing nervously by the time his assistant was blowdrying my hair already... hehehe, I am very happy though and excited at how my hair will look like as it grows out. :) This is a very helpful article. :)

Louis Kee Salon deserves to be in the Top Ten. Their excellent services deserves to be commended. Especially Louis kee himself. He really pampers every client that walks through that door. Love their expresso coffee. And of course great haircuts and colors. Recently I tried their Keratin Smoothing Treatment. My hair is soft and silky. With amazing shine. I dont have to blowdry my hair anymore. Galing!

I just got clip in extensions and i want to have my old hair blended with it. Do anyone here knows a good stylist who's experienced with cutting hair extensions?

i went to salon de manila kasi wala na si mike ng shuji kida. but what happened is im not satisfied with what the hair stylist did to my hair. Hindi din na satisfied brother ko then ayun na contact namin si mike ng shuji nag ho-home service na sya. sya lang nakaka pag paganda ng buhok namin :)

hi, im saddened at all your comments about jude. because i know him. i know him because i am close to one of his family members.. and for that reason i could understand him. he is imperfect just like any of us, but he is a good person.. i understand that you may not see him the way i do and i do not judge you.. im simply hoping that you would not judge him too.. i understand that you may never like him though i'll be honest that a big part of me is hoping too that someday you will see what we see in him and why we love him.. he is really a good person..

as jude's issue well..he has temper a very high temper to everyone,i came to his salon with a couple of time and encountering him...maybe his good with his client but i dont know how he treated his staff till one day i saw him ang heard from him such degrading word to hi staff..goish i kinda shock...1st i cant believe what they say bout him since i heard it with my bare ear so disgusting and humilating kawawang staff..yung service naman nya kind ok naman the price is worth,but i heard the staff walang tamang training...jude can you please spend an amount to train your staff bec base sa singil mo hindi kana lugi kung magbibigay ka nang training program and i heard na dole kayo kasi sa liit ng sahud ninyo wich is hindi makatarungan.

i really love UNIVERS KAIZEN SALON especially ms. meann and her assist. they always make me feel comfortable... para akong artista.. at plgi akong happy pgktpos ko pumunta sa UNIVER KAIZEN SALON.. try to visit UNIVER KAIZEN SALON and try ms. Meann pra mlmn nyo kung bkit gustong gusto ko sya..shes very professional in all aspects..

Shigeki (along with his Filipino assistant) of Shuji Kida did a good job with my hair, plus he was very polite and accommodating. But watch out for Shuji Kida's receptionist/cashier (chinky-eyed forty-ish woman with long colored hair): she tells this price one day, and a higher price the next.
When I asked her about it, she gave me that puzzled look and reply that she didn't know we had that previous conversation. The instant increment of P1k for more length of hair was INSANE! I spent P8k for the rebonding of my short hair (up to the nape, which, as she previously told me, was supposedly P7k), as compared to the price of P6.8k charged to a certain blogger whose hair was below shoulder length.

i'm glad toni and guy wasn't on the list. that salon sucks
they complain about my sister's hair because it is so thick and they complain about mine coz it's not as thick as my sister's. then they cut my long hair to shoulder's length w/o my permission, then they're gonna offer this very expensive highlights, I told them to color my highlights "dark brown or red" they colored it with blonde/brown and the treatment took about 6 hours. I was so pissed off!! I paid 18k for that crap I was not even happy. beware with that salon, BEWARE!

I have tried so many well known hairstylists and I am very happy with Louis Kee. He consistently gives me intricate cuts and colors for the last few years. He is also very updated in the latest hair trends. His staff are all very friendly and professional. Louis Kee for me is my choice for the best in Manila.

I had my haircut at Shuji Kida salon and i thought at first, no one could top my hairstyle. I meant no other styles could fit me perfectly, but they did it. I was surprised and overwhelmed on the haircut they've done onto me. It was expensive,but i think it's very worth it. :)

There's no better or worse salon. Every salon has their own trademark. You just need to find the one that fits you perfectly. :)

I've been going to Jude since 2004 and yes he is expensive but worth it talaga aabot ng 3 months ang gupit nya bago mo kailangan bumalik. I'm also price conscious and there are times na pupunta ako sa mas mura na gupit but I always end up going back to him to get it fixed. Also proven na maganda yung gupit at hindi lang sa aking paningin kase I've always received compliments both here in manila and abroad. I only go for the cut kase in my opinion hair color, mani-pedi and other treatments are easily found kahit hindi ganun ka-mahal pero ang gupit investment yan dahil it literally can make or break your hair.

Regarding his "ugali" he has always been gracious to me and to his other customers and never saw him be ill tempered and I've been going to him for 6 yrs so maybe yung nakita nyo was just an off day for him and sino ba naman ang hindi nag-fleflare up paminsan minsan. I'm not saying it's not wrong, it's just being human. Plus.. pumupunta ka naman dun para pagupit hindi makipag-bestfriends diba? :)

Univers Phyto might be expensive but for me, Jude Hipolito and Rose Velasco are so worth the price. I don't think I've ever been this happy with my hair in more than 10 years! It may be expensive but its worth the trip. I especially hate cheap, franchised salons who tries to convince me with rebonding my long curly hair just because of whatever reason (even if I told them already that I like my hair curly). I met Rita of Propaganda through a friend. The first thing she told me when I met her was how she liked my curls. She did a great job of giving me a cut thats low maintenance yet stylish.

After 2 - 3 cuts I told her I wanted to cut my hair really short because I've been wearing my hair long since birth. She was hesitant and told me why (shape of face, etc etc). She gave me bangs and cut my hair short. I still had my curls and I loved it!

It's all in a matter of looking for the right stylist for you. For someone who's curly, go look for Rita.

I just got back from your top rated salon Shuji Kida and I am not happy with the treatment. They could not give me many options except cut and treatment. If you ask me, Louis Philipe Kee should be number 1. They were so much better.

I wanna know which of these hair salons does the best and which hair stylist would make miracle happen. I heard that it's cheaper to get a hair cut in Asian countries. I'll be in Manila for 2 days after my trip in Budapest. I wanted to get a haircut before I go back to NY. I prefer a Korean hair stylist who speaks English. Micon of Basement Salon, Shangri-la gets my thumbs up for a great hair cutter. My hair is wavy, so I wore it straight cut lang, no designs whatever, which I admit looked boring. Until I went to Basement & saw Micon finishing up another cut. Nakita ko nagandahan ako. At the spur of the moment nagpagupit ako sa kanya and I wasn't disappointed! Galing mag cut & mag shape ng hair! It looked modern stylish. Layered cut ala Jen Aniston w/o d color, but maganda un bagsak. i don't have to blow dry it & still looks great. Love my hair. Tska attitude wise she's down to earth, humble,hindi sya un tipong mayabang, ma-ere, na feeling pa intimidating professional kahit na ka black pa siya. U will feel comfy w/ her. I'll definitely go back to Micon. For 400 cut though is quite pricey coz in our place there's a haircut as low as 20.00 (halos FREE), pero kung di ka naman every month haircut, sulit na rin kay Micon. Impt din that every girl should look good & feel proud of their cut. MICON..thank you!

Hairworks is where I used to go before I migrated. Jasmine is great! One of her gay staff though, damaged my hair when he colored it. So make sure Jasmine is there to check their work. Chrissy is cool as well. In fact, I will surely go to Hairworks when i go back to the Phil.

im currently in the u.s. its been almost 3 months since that B!@#$ ruined my hair....so yesterday i had a consultation with a supposedly famous hairdresser featured in a fashion magazine here, and another japanese hairdresser...(they all had strange looks with how my hair was cut)
hard to decide but will get my cut for the 3rd time in 3months since chiyo BOTCHED MY HAIR (really bad with left side a lot of short pieces WHY OH WHY OH WHY!!!!), in the next coming weeks

japanese cutting is really different,,they do a lot of undercutting or thinning out..but suffice to say, chiyo i doubt is even considered good! she cant style, she cant layer, she might as well just TRIM people's hair
to top it off,,having traveled a lot, most japanese people are polite, nice and soft spoken!


if anyone begs to differ, please let us all know here in the forum, it will be quite a shock!

To Chiyo's victims, I am one with you. I had a haircut with her on my birthday because my favorite hairdresser was not available. I almost walked out of the Salon after she opened her mouth to ask me what I wanted her to do with my hair! After telling her I wanted a shorter funky 'do, she gave me a blank stare and said "but your hair is already short". Sheesh, how inspiring! She then turned me over to their shampoo girl who did a fine job massaging my scalp and all that jazz. I really don't understand why I proceeded with the cut which turned out to be extremely blah! She sure ruined my day. Perhaps I am to blame for not following my gut feel. Suffice it to say, I believe she is over rated and definitely needs to go to charm school.

Would just like to say that i totally agree with the comment placd by 'badluckwithhair'. The stylist Chiyo really sucks. She has a very bad attitude and is really rude and unpleasant. I had a very bad experience and would actively dissuade people from going there. I really hope she learns a lesson and comes down to earth.

Queen G, Propaganda offers hair extensions. I just don't kniw of they glue them on to your scalp or weave them in. They can be quite expensive (especially depending on the kind of hair they use). I hear Indian hair is the nicest and strongest. But I'm no expert. Ask Jing (Monis) when you get to Propaganda.

I've tried Henry Calayag, Jing Monis, Phil Tordjman, the folks at Basement too. Never been really (as i REALLY) happy over the cuts I received. It was... Ok. Considering we pay these people more thann we do our doctors per consultation, none of them really ASKED me what my lifestyle was like. Noe of them seemed to even STUDYmy hair. In nother words, I wanted them to ASK ME about my hair-- what I liked about it ad what I didn't. I finally gave up and went to Jude Hipolito. I know his cuts are expensive. But have you ever heard of the saying YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR??? ALl the reviews I read about Jude seemed too good to be true. But it all turned out to be true. I have never seen anyone take such meticulous attention to my hais. ANd it seemed like he was the only one who really noticed how my hair grwos. To make a long story short I was really impressed. I've finally found THE ONE and I am happy. No stylist has ever knocked me off my feet with a cut. Jude Hipolito did. Oh yeah... And for the people who said that Jude isn't a good man?? You obviously haven't sat in his chair for a cut long enough to talk to him. And next time honeys, PLEASE mind your grammar.

sometimes i'm happier with my haircut from a completely unknown salon as long as my hairdresser pays attention to my needs - what I like and not what he/she thinks I like, and not attempting to sell me services I don't need. too bad my favorite hairdresser - the one that my mom and I went to for years - died last year. I used to look forward to my vacation in Iloilo for my haircut and perm :(

@badluckwithhair- i saw a blogger who juz had a haircut with chiyo, and naku parang walang pagbabago sa looks. she juz shorten it. the opinion of the blogger claims she was satisfied pero if u look at it, pinaiksian lang nya yung buhok nya. no styling. and the long 10mins shampoo is what she is raving about not the cut. hahhaha dpa din ako nagpapagupit..havign hesitations not because she's 1700 but if she's worth it.. :)

it's obscene how she raised her price a whopping 500 bucks to 1,700 from only 1,200 last year.

i want to try chiyo parang feel ko mag pa hair make over. worth it kaya? sir jmarc and harold of toni n guy are good. they've been cutting n coloring my hair for 2 yrs na. pero since they've known me much already, the usual safe style nalng lage.haaay hrap magpa beauty :P

@travelgirl- yup i can agree to that. sometimes the cheaper cut makes the "cut". I think it all boils down to the hairdresser not the salon.

i don't get the satisfaction level ladies get when they show off the before/after shots of their haircut which cost them a whopping P1500. There's no difference!
