Know their names for they are now part of history: Army Pfc. Antonio Cadiente, Airman Second Class Gener Laguindan, Navy Petty Officer 3 Edgardo Rodriguez and Police Officer 1 Danilo Maalab. The four honor guards stood upright in military fashion on a moving flatbed truck under the rain for eight straight hours without sitting, eating or relieving themselves as they accompanied former President Cory Aquino's remains while her cortege journeyed from the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros to the Manila Memorial Park in Paranaque yesterday, reports philstar.com.
According to The Philippine Star: "They were handpicked from the among the best of our honor guards," said Marine Col. Lt. Edgard Arevalo, spokesman for the Philippine Navy. The honor guards are really expected to stand in attention for hours without moving. "It's part of their training," said Arevalo. "We call it discipline. "

Kudos to Pfc. Antonio Cadiente, Airman 2nd Class Gener Laguindam, Petty Officer 3 Edgardo Rodriguez and Police Officer 1 Danilo Maalab. I'm really impressed. My respect to our military men is heightened by this extreme discipline! Mabuhay kayong apat! Mabuhay ang Filipino!
Mabuhay kayo! You should be proud of yourselves!
I think they all deserve a promotion.

The Men Who Can't Be Moved
well done... well done...
wow! astig ang dating nyo pare!
If we had a gay president, the honor guard would be an indian, a seaman, a policeman, and a construction worker.
My friend who is a soldier said they are indeed trained to do this and it's not as hard as we think. He did say that it's harder for women to hold their pee, though!
yan ang pinoy! mabuhay po kayo!
kahit na mukhang madali at na trained silka. they are worth commending. see? pag mabait ka, kahit di state burial kayang magtiis ng tao o nang na trained mang sundalo sayo. Cory Aquino deserves to be thankful for.
well done sir! i know tita cory's glad for what you've done! salute!

sa totoo lang, during the cortege kayong 4 yung inaalala namin.. bumuhos yung malakas na ulan, humangin ng malakas pero andun pa rin kayo nakatayo.. at hindi biro yung almost 9 hours na naka attention!! hindi gumagalaw. no foods, no drinks.. wala pang hawakan yung truck!! subra talaga!! I am soooo impressed!!! mga sir, I salute you!! ibang klase talaga!! for sure, Pres. Cory is very happy for what you've did. Job well done!
Let's not also forget the guards who accompanied Pres. Cory's remains from Greenhills to the Manila Cathedral.
