Mikey Arroyo criticizes bloggers; wants regulation on Facebook

Published: Sep 30, 2009 - 10:33am

Presidential son and Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo lashed out at Facebook users on September 29 for a "malicious attack [on] his personality," reports the Daily Tribune.

In a text message, Arroyo did not deny that he was out shopping for alcoholic drinks on Saturday while typhoon Ondoy was ravaging Manila. He said that it was impossible for him to stop by Rustan's Katipunan in Quezon City when the street was impassable because of the flood. "My picture posted at Facebook with a caption saying I was busy shopping for wine at the height of Typhoon Ondoy is another malicious attack at my personality. It is so depressing," he said.

"On record, I was in Malacaang at that time with all my family trying to mobilize rescue and relief operations for people of Metro Manila and for my constituents in my district in Pampanga," Arroyo said.

The Tribune goes on to say that "instead of resorting to grandstanding gimmickry at his expense," according to Arroyo, "the bloggers should also busy themselves helping their countrymen who are still reeling from the effects of the worst natural calamity the country had experienced in decades."

"I hope that Facebook and other like mediums be regulated so they can never be subjected to abuse by some scrupulous people. Facebook is easily susceptible to abuses as people can easily hide their identities," he stressed.

A photo of a person alleged to be Arroyo buying liquor during the height of typhoon Ondoy was posted on websites across the Internet on Sept. 28, but has since been taken down in most sites.

What's more, puwedeng gamiting lining ng gulong ng eroplano and wala man lang kagasgas-gasgas everytime magla-land at magte-take off. Pupunasan lang ng janitor ang surface and voila, good as new! How bout that?

Although it's kinda late. I am a leather businessman nga pala.

I just wanted to share that whatever that comes out from our mouth is what makes us unclean. Change in the outside environment starts from changing within ourselves. I have learned to love my environment and so to help it, I talk and share what I wanted to be in a very positive way. Change will happen as I see my outlook in life change. No blaming, no justifying, but just caring, loving and understanding.

Honestly, I was kind of hoping that Malacananang's officials and the family drowned in murkey water so they will know how the people suffered, that way they will know where to put the people's money properly.

Regulation of facebook and such sites is a breach of freedom of speech, even though some exaggerations may be unfortunate.

It's people like you that cause THIS kind of thing to happen. People whose power goes unchecked, like YOU and your whole disgusting family.

And DUDE, how NAIVE and JUVENILE can you get? (or perhaps you don't know what those words mean.) just because it's depressing to YOU, doesn't mean that you have to tell the world, using it as some lousy defense.

A word to the wise: CHECK A DICTIONARY, especially for the word SCRUPULOUS, which in fact means, people that have been "diligent and thorough", you unscrupulous sewer rat.
  • You are just plain stupid Oct 02 2009 @ 09:24am Report Abuse
If we do take time to post your photo on Facebook that does not mean we are not doing anything to help the victims of calamity. Actually, let me tell you this. If not for the private sectors pulling out money from their very own pockets to fund the charity work that we are conducting, will you and your gov't full of BS be able to fund all the damage this calamity have caused?

And obviously the answer to that is a no. Because you're just a bunch of selfish rats. You only think and care about yourselves and how you're going to gain profit from being a public servant.

John 8:44 means that If we lie we are not belong to God our father, instead we are belong to the father of lies, the DEVIL.
Proverbs 21:6 Dishonesty will bring punishment
Prov 3:32 means that God hates the corrupt man
Prov 12:22 The Lord detest (hate) the lying lips

    dear mister arroyo,

one, it's called freedom of speech. look it up.

two, ever heard of the civil code provision on excessive merriment at a time of acute public want? it's article 25 of the new civil code. look that up too.

three, you're a public figure. you chose to be elected, hence you can't fault people from holding you to your accountability as a public official. you can't cry regulation just because your voting public calls you out on the error of your ways.

lastly, despite the lack of legal provisions that should have at least detered you from being a total *ssh*l* throughout this whole tragedy, it's called delicadeza. just show some sensitivity, pretend like you care. you owe us that at the very least seeing as you squandered our taxpayers' money already.

First, Facebook is not a Philippine company. so it's beyond the reach of his short-armed midget mom.

Second, Why don't he start regulating himself and his whole clan so the Filipino people will never be subjected to abuses by scrupulous politicians like him. Just like the whereabouts now of the controversial Road Usage Tax.

Third, You are what you are because of genetics. I know the kind of environment you grew up at kung saan galing ang pinakain at pinalaki sa iyo. It's from the blood and sweat ng ibang tao!

Mikey Freakin Arroyo needs to understand the vast changing techy of today. Regular people are now capable of being their own media to others. I think regular people like the bloggers of facebook are the true source of the story. In the Philippines, there are a lot of issues that are not allowed to be publicized due to the nation's somewhat conservative culture. the privilege of a regular person to tell a true story to the public is startling the politicians in the Philippines because it is easily spread to the whole world and nothing more issues nowadays can be concealed to the public which i think is fair enough! The Arroyos are scared to be turned down by their international affiliates due to this wonderful new media. Instead that Mikey Arroyo whines about being the hot topic for being an A, He and the rest of the politicians in the Philippines must therefore be cautious about their actions in public.

    Let us draw some parallelism.

If texting was regulated during the time of Erap, do you think your Mom could have been President?

Do you think you could have bought a house in California?

In Avenue Q, the internet is porn.

In Avenue Manille, the internet is a mirror of society.

Mikee, what is more depressing is when you cannot pinpoint the source of funding for your house in California.

What is more depressing is when you steal what could have been spent to buy rubber boats to save lives.

    May araw din kayo.

I am not pro arroyo and I won't be. I just want to point out something here and let us remind each other about being a true christian. By nature when we dislike someone, we can't help but see all the bad sides and watch every move they make. But, don't you see that when we speak ill of others, just that gesture speaks about our personality as well? Let us not be judgmental!

mikey, we will pray for you and your family that God will touch your hearts and give you and your mom the inner sense of what is wrong and right. we will continue to pray to God that he may allow miracle to happen with your callous conscience. let's hope that that would happen.

Baka naman Mikey had a great foresight. He saw to it to stock up on lots of alcohol so that he can donate it later on to the victims of Ondoy who were all huddled up and freezing all night. Sort of "to keep you warm" guys. Mabuhay ka Mikey. Ang galing mo!

Do something that will actually benefit and help Filipinos kse, then we will be a bit considerate of your actions. But then again in times like this, being the son of the president and even a public servant for that matter, you should not even consider sleeping at all until you get your people safe and secure! Mere baranggay people even swam the flood to save lives; people from abroad umikot ang mga pwet kakaisip at gawa ng paraan para makatulong, tapos ikaw, you stopped for a quick break? Meron pa ngang nagbuwis buhay! Kahit nung Sunday pa yan or nung Monday, still convenience mo pa rin ang nasa utak mo. Nubah!

You know what? Even if the guy in the picture is not him, it doesn't matter. Mikey you pig: you and your piggy family have stolen EVERYTHING from the Filipino people. Yes, environmental abuse is one of the causes of the Ondoy disaster, but your utter and shameless corruption has robbed everyone of a chance at survival. Funds did not go where they were supposed to.

Burn in hell, Arroyos, burn in hell.

Oh. And Gibo Teodoro is a douche. With a face and demeanor like that, how are we supposed to believe he CARES???

“My picture posted at Facebook with a caption saying I was busy shopping for wine at the height of Typhoon Ondoy is another malicious attack at my personality. It is so depressing,” he said.

Mikey Arroyo you sanctimonious twat--you know what's depressing? What's depressing is that you have a million-dollar house in California that was funded by obviously stolen taxpayer funds.

What's depressing is that I fork over 30 pesos out of every 100 pesos I make TO YOU and all your friends in Congress like you who use my hard-earned money to buy houses and get range rovers with police escorts and sirens who push me off EDSA in traffic.

What's depressing is that because of YOU, I probably won't stay in this country where I was born for very much longer. I will not raise children in this godforsaken place where people like YOU take advantage of the corruption endemic in the system to steal and abuse hardworking, taxpaying, law-abiding private citizens who simply want a quiet life.

If there is a hell, I hope you, and your corrupt fat piggy lying thieving shameless police-escorted friends burn in it.

    That is all.

    Pikon kasi? Malamang totoo. :P

Once na tumapak ka sa politics, you should've expected as much controversy from people. Ba't di mo tularan yung ermats mmo, parating "no comment." Edi tapos usapan. Huhupa din yang chismis. But no, you have to step out and defend yourself! Hehe.
