P12 billion calamity fund proposed

Published: Oct 13, 2009 - 10:32am

Congress is seeking to set aside P12 billion as a supplemental budget to add to the national calamity fund, reports GMANews.tv.

To avoid delay in the approval of the budget, Senate finance committee chair Edgardo Angara said, "Bahala na ang line agencies mag-allocate (We will allow the agencies to make the allocations)."

As of Sept. 30, before super typhoon Pepeng descended on Northern Luzon, National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) head Gilbert Teodoro Jr. had reported that the P2 billion calamity fund was down to P24 million.

Why? Each congressman has a budget in their pork barrel allocated to disaster management and emergencies. Why don't they release these now? Maybe they're already used up. Shame for all these politicians who treat their pork barrels as their own pocket money. You all deserve to be drowned.

The Kingdom of Bahrain handed a check to ABS-CBN for relief efforts not to the Phil Govt. The government of Brazil handed a check to UN rep in the Phil not to the Phil Govt...etc. etc. etc.

If you do not call this a slap on the face of the Phil. govt. I do not know how you call this.

United Nations is raising some $70 million for this country to help the victims of what is now largely regarded as a “climate change” calamity.

The UN is said to be giving most of the money to private groups.

I do not know if this cute administration feels the pain from such a loud slap on the face.

It’s just that other countries seem to be following the UN tact. Israel for instance gave its assistance through the Philippine National Red Cross.

sana matagal na nilang naisip to.
