Jason Ivler, the prime suspect in the road-rage killing of Renato Ebarle Jr., has been arrested, said National Bureau of Investigations (NBI) official Ricardo Diaz on radio station DZRH on January 18.
Ivler had allegedly exchanged gunfire with the NBI special action unit before he was arrested, reports ABS-CBN News. The suspect was believed to be in possession of an M-16 rifle and a bandolier when he started shooting at the operatives at his mother's Blue Ridge A Subdivision home.

NBI Director Nestor Mantaring told ABS-CBN that Atty. Julio Magno, head of the NBI Special Action Unit, and Anna Lira Labao of the NBI Intelligence Service Division were both hit by Ivler's gunfire but are now out of danger.
Ivler incurred two gunshots, one to his right shoulder and another to his upper-left abdomen, and is now being treated at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center, according to ABS-CBN News.
Dr. Fernando Lopez, the hospital's chief of surgery, said that Ivler is currently under general anesthesia and that his vital signs have stabilized, but the doctor also noted that they would have to surgically remove Ivler's spleen.
DZMM reported that Ivler's mother, Marlene Aguilar, sister of Filipino folk singer Freddie Aguilar, had been keeping her son in a storage room in her house before the said ordeal. She has reportedly been taken to an NBI facility for questioning.
"We have information that Jason never left the house. They have already raided the house twice before but never found him," Mantaring told ABS-CBN News as he explained that Aguilar could face charges for hiding her son despite the served warrant of arrest.

Ebarle Jr., who was killed in a traffic incident in Quezon City on November 18, was the son of undersecretary Renato Ebarle Sr., Presidential Chief of Staff. In a statement with ABS-CBN, Ebarle Sr. said, "It's good that he was finally arrested because he could hurt a lot more people... Today is the 60th day since my son was killed. He was killed on November 18. This is my only son. It's been very hard for us but this morning, our prayers were answered."
