Marlene Aguilar-Pollard, mother of road rage killing suspect Jason Ivler, was the picture of despair when cameras caught her after she was bailed out on January 19. Pollard spent the previous night in a detention cell for supposedly hiding Ivler in their basement for which she was charged with obstruction of justice on the night of January 18. The National Bureau of Investigation's special action unit arrested Ivler on the same day but not before Ivler acted "like Rambo" and shot at the officers. The shoot-out wounded two NBI agents and landed Ivler in the Intensive Care Unit of the Quirino Memorial Medical Center.

"I'm still traumatized. I have not slept. I have not eaten. My heart breaks beyond words. My son is fighting for his life and if he dies, I accept that with all humility," she told the media as captured by QTV's Balitanghali. "I want everyone to know that no matter what my son did, I love him with all my heart and soul," she tearfully added.

"I want everyone to know that I would exchange places with my son a thousand times. I will take a thousand bullets for my son. I will die for my son," Pollard said as reported by Saksi. "Jason, if you can hear me, I love you with all my heart until death do us part."
Palace Undersecretary Renato Ebarle Sr., father of Ivler's alleged victim Renato Victor Ebarle Jr., told Inquirer.net, "Sympathy for the mother of Ivler? What about my wife who lost her only son? You compare the person of my son–who never fired a gun or was involved in a fight–and that of Jason, the disparity is great."
"Ang obstruction of justice ay isang espesyal na batas at hindi tumitingin sa rason kung bakit mo ginawa 'yan," Atty. Lito Magno, chief of the NBI Special Action Unit, told Saksi.
Pollard had previously denied any knowledge of her son's whereabouts. On November 21 last year, speaking before an audience at the Cultural Center of the Philippines for the launch or her book Warriors of Heaven, she said emotionally, "To Jason, I say, if you are guilty, I beg you with all my heart to surrender yourself and face this. If you are guilty, then I have accepted your death Jason. If you are guilty, then I only hope that your life will ease the immense pain of Renato's family. If you die and when you meet your father in the after life, please tell him that I miss him each day of my life," according to her website. (Jason's biological father, Robert Ivler, died in a car accident when Jason was three years old).
In December, she said Ivler emailed her saying he was in Hawaii and "would only surrender to God," reports GMANews.tv.
Ebarle Sr., who called Ivler's arrest a "great relief," wants the authorities to charge Ivler's stepfather Stephen Pollard, an economist at the Asian Development Bank, with obstruction of justice as well.

A MOTHER should be the MENTOR of her children. She should in any way plays a very “important†part in shaping her children’s future. There’s no doubt that any mother could sacrifice everything, even give – up the most in this life just for the sake of her children, for we know that regardless of what, it is indeed justifiable that a mother’s LOVE is “UNCONDITIONAL†in every aspect of mother- child relationship. But in the case of Marlene Aguilar, there might be some missing piece in instilling discipline to her child or she did beyond her capacity but not efficient as it should be because it might have been influenced by many reasons “ONLY†a mother could explain.
