Manny Pacquiao sings again on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Published: Mar 5, 2010 - 12:25am

Less than two weeks before Manny Pacquiao's anticipated fight against American boxer Joshua Clottey on March 13, the People's Champ once again showed off his musical chops on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

"I got a great idea for you. You go on American Idol, right? If they don't like you, you beat the cr*p out of them," joked Kimmel. Pacquiao laughed it off saying that he also trained for his rendition of George Bensons 1988 hit "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for You."

Before his performance, Pacquiao talked about his canceled bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Kimmel recalled the mandatory blood testing Pacquiao declined to take to which Pacquiao responded, "I told him, we're going to do a blood test but not close to the fight, because that's his advantage. He's bigger than me so [he can recover faster]. If we change the situation, if I'm bigger than him, and we require a blood test close to the fight, it's going to be an advantage [for] me."

"I think he's not ready for the fight. The job of the fighter is to train hard and to fight in the ring. You don't need to change the rules and regulations because there's an athletic commission to [enforce them]," Pacquiao continued. When asked if he was still open to a Mayweather showdown, Pacquiao said he's willing to fight anybody.

Pacquiao also expressed his plans to run for Congress on the show. "It's hard to decide right now," Pacquiao answered when asked if he would juggle boxing and politics and be a "fighting congressman." Kimmel also brought up Pacquiao's acting career when he showed the audience a trailer of Pacquiao's Metro Manila Film Fest entry Wapakman. The host quipped, "I like that you're fighting the giant crab. That would be a good bout for you on pay-per-view, you know?"
