ABS-CBNNews.com, citing Agence France Presse, reports that Puerto Rican pop star Ricky Martin has confirmed that he is gay. "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am," Martin wrote on his official rickymartin.com website.
Sex symbol status. Martin sizzles on the stage with fellow sex symbol Kylie Minogue.
Martin, 38, who is famous for hits like "Livin' La Vida Loca," visited the Philippines as a teenager, when he was part of the boy group Menudo. Coming out, according to him, marks "an amazing turning point in my life." He allegedly decided to tell the truth about his sexuality when he began the process of writing his memoirs just a few months ago.
Teen idol. As part of Menudo, the teen Martin made many girls scream.
Martin added that his secret had become "too heavy for me to keep inside" and that he sees his gay identity as "something worth celebrating." Martin has twin sons, Matteo and Valentino, via a surrogate mother.
I do hope that somehow, he will realized that he can go back to his origin... being a MAN...
