Liberal Party's Mar Roxas congratulates president-elect Noynoy Aquino in a note posted on his website and Facebook account on June 8, Tuesday. Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III won the presidential election with a total of 15,208,678 votes as Congress closed the canvassing of votes on June 8, according to a report by GMANews.TV. Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay of PDP-Laban received 14,645,574 votes, defeating Roxas for the vice-presidential bid.

In Roxas' congratulatory note, he said,"From day one, the success of his campaign has been as important to me as the success of my own.   Let us all rally behind the leadership of President-elect Noynoy Aquino.   It is my sincere prayer that the change our candidates swore to bring about in the campaign will be fulfilled.   It is my pledge to continue to do everything within my power to support the people's agenda under an Aquino administration."

Roxas also mentioned in his congratulatory note that he has instructed his lawyers to gather records and evidence on the null votes for the vice-presidential race. "We have 30 days to do this. I owe it to our people to ensure that the electoral process will truly be an instrument of their will," he wrote.

Aquino and Binay are scheduled to be proclaimed Wednesday, June 9, at the Batasang Pabansa Complex in Quezon City.
