VP Binay says new office too bare, jokes "I'll get a rash staying here"

Jejomar Binay takes his oath of office as the vice president of the Philippines on June 30 at the Quirino Grandstand.

On his first day as vice president, Jejomar Binay found his new office "too bare," reports Inquirer.net. "Dapat may konti ring yabang, 'wag lang 'yung sosobra... There must be dignity commensurate to the occupant of the office," he told reporters on July 1.

Binay said he would add more paintings. Since it's "a bit warm," he would also have the air conditioner fixed. Regarding his new chair, he said, "With my size, I can't rest my back. How did [former Vice President] Noli de Castro do it? This is only for six-footers."

He "added in jest": "I'll get a rash staying here."

The former Makati City mayor used to hold office at the swanky Makati City Hall. Now, the newly elected vice president's office occupies half of the seventh floor of the Philippine National Bank Building in Pasay City. He told his staff, "You're the vice president but you can't even hold office on the entire floor."

According to Inquirer.net, Binay had two other options: the old five-storey Makati City Hall and the government-owned Coconut Palace, which Pres. Noynoy Aquino offered to Binay as his official residence.

The Coconut Palace should'nt be given to this idiot VP. He will surely put his trademark "B"inay all around the place from Roxas Blvd up to the seawall of the reclaimed area. The Coconut Palace will be renamed "B"ukonut Palace for sure. A spare tire like him deserve nothing until he replaces the incumbent President. For now, he can build a treehouse on top of a coconut tree as his permanent office.

This guy Binay is an unnecessary baggage to Noynoy's effort for change. Pampabigat lang. He is doing exactly the opposite of what Noynoy is trying to do. I believe that Binay has not actually done what he claims credit for in Makati's progress. While still early, Binay should be cut of his caprices.

Kung ayaw mo sa posisyon mo then by all means RESIGN!!!! You're such a freaking whiner! Grow up old man.

Mr. Binay, being Vice President does NOT mean being CO-PRESIDENT! Wake up from your dream.

Can someone seriously explain why people voted for binay? I am baffled. If they only could experience what it is like living and running a business in makati, they would encounter the corruption that I have encountered firsthand. From parking attendants to tow trucks to yellow shirt enforcers to jollijeeps to business permits to city tax collectors, it has been an uninterrupted series of corrupt dealings.

Boy from Makati here. I find it scary that Binay's the VP. He makes it so he's the one responsible for making Makati what it is but he's always just pointing to Ayala Avenue. Go to the slum areas where all the squatters are like Pateros and you'll see that he hasn't really done all that much.

I also find that his policies like the free movie ticket for the elderly and other just there to keep the urban poor in the area dependent on him. If they're dependent, then the votes will come in. Why not just fund projects that foster education and job generation? Create opportunities for the poor to help themselves.

So yeah. Just shut up Binay and do your job. As the president said in his speech, we're your bosses.
