Rep. Imelda Marcos to head committee on fight against poverty

Ilocos Norte Rep. Imelda Marcos, the former First Lady "whose known extravagance helped coin the word 'Imeldific,'" has been named the chair of the Congress committee on the fight against poverty, reports The Philippine Star. The widow of Ferdinand Marcos will head the "little known" United Nations Millennium Development Goals committee, which aims to reduce poverty worldwide by half within five years.

According to the website of the House of Representatives, Marcos is also a member of the following committees: ecology, foreign affairs, social services, tourism, interparliamentary relations and diplomacy, and women and gender equality.

    no matter what people say, IMELDA MARCOS is a name to reckon with. all we know are conjectures about the money that they stole daw. Look at her, very beautiful at 81 and compos mentis at that!!! she is blessed!

    How will that be possible if the Head of the PCGG (who's tasked to run after the Marcoses' billion-dollar loot) doesn't seem to find anything wrong being seen in public getting chummy with Imelda and attending her private parties?

    April fools day is over for this year! Imelda to help eradicate poverty? The best way would be for her, her children, her relatives, and the rest of the Marcos cronies to give back the money they have stolen from the government and private industries.
