The Philippine National Police (PNP) has ordered the investigation of the police officers who posed for photos in front of the tourist bus at the Quirino Grandstand, site of the Manila bus hostage tragedy that happened August 23, reports GMANews.tv.

According to GMANews.tv, photos of uniformed police in front of the tourist bus quickly reached the Internet, including social networking sites like Facebook, and received serious disapproval from Hong Kong nationals and Filipinos. Senior Superintendent Roberto Po, Chief District Directorial Staff of Manila Police District (MPD) said the police in the photos are not part of "Manila's finest." "Hindi po namin pulis 'yun. Ang kanilang mga suot na mga sumbrero ay beret kung tawagin. So, wala pong pulis Maynila na ang beret ay part of our uniform, " he told GMANews.tv.

GMANews.tv also reported a photo of a female officer in Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) uniform posing in front of the tourist bus. It is currently being investigated if the female officer is part of the MDP SOCO. Chief Superintendent Roberto Rongavilla, Officer-in-Charge of MPD, told GMANews.tv that picture-taking at the scene of the crime is needed to prove collection of evidence, but photos should be captured in a "working pose."
