French national allegedly jumped to his death at Robinsons Place Manila, says police

Saksi: Man found dead inside Ermita mall in Manila

A French national identified as Jean Louis Battail died after supposedly jumping from the third floor of Robinsons Place Manila on October 5, reports ABS-CBNNews.com. Battail allegedly jumped while he was being chased by a server of an unidentified restaurant because of the unpaid P4,000 bill he left, according to witnesses' accounts cited by Police Officer 2 Lester Evangelista of the Manila Police District's Homicide Division.

One witness said Battail fell on the ground floor headfirst. ABS-CBNNews.com reports, "(His) skull was (cracked) open and parts of his brain (were) scattered on the floor." Evangelista said Battail carried nothing but his passport, which showed he arrived in Manila on October 1.

Contrary to Evangelista's statement, a supposed witness told Saksi that she saw Battail fall from the fourth floor of the mall, where she herself was at the time. "Nagsigawan lahat ng tao. Sobrang lakas ng impact. (Everybody screamed because of the impact of his fall.)"

Hi Kix,rnrnI was also in that escalator, I did not bother to look at the dead body pero nakita ko sa floor yung mga scattered brain tissue and stuff.rnrnMedyo nabwisit ako dun sa mga babaeng nasa harap ko.rnCause they were also jeopardizing the people na nasa escalator. I get the point that they are scared but aanhin sila nung cadaver.rnrnI got out of Rob Place, almost vomiting, I was shaking and panting.rnrnWith Neneng, I'm amused and sad with her reply I mean it is ok to take these things lightly pero what if ikaw ang nakakita ng actual na guy na nahuhulog head first :(rnrnDati I really like watching morbid movies as in gore kung gore pero when I saw something in actual iba ang feeling.rnrnMatiisin, rnrnYup sana if people would like to end their life please do it the comfort of their own home and if they want to give their piece of mind....then just blog about it or approach the person...not put pieces on his/her mind sa isang floor ng mall.rnMalls should be a venue to have fun and create good memories and some poeple just don't get it.rnA lot are speculating that the guy met some girl here sa Phils and expecting marriage...rn

I don't know if there was foul play or aksidente yung pagkakahulog, pero panawagan ko lang sa mga balak wakasan ang buhay nila sa mga mall at kung ano-ano pang pampublikong lugar, maawa naman kayo sa mga makakakita! Spare the people trauma. Huwag naman kayong mag-iwan ng malalagim na alaala na magpapahirap pa sa mga saksi na kailangan pang ituloy ang buhay nila.

I was midway of the escalator of Rob Manila when it happened. I heard the scream and then I saw a man in red falling down close to the escalator leading to the mall's Pedro Gil entrance/Starbucks. Then a big thud. A woman almost got hit. Just a few seconds after the Frenchman hit the ground, I reached the last step of the escalator and there was the dead man just about one meter to my right. It was so gross. The head was split into two at the middle from the skull up to the neck like a watermelon cut in half, brains and blood splattered all over the floor, eyes wide open, the mouth also wide open like it was screaming but cut in half. It was so horrifying that some women opted to go up back to the second floor, running frantically against the downward flow of the escalator rather than be beside the man. After a minute, the mall security asked all people to leave the mall, got all the roll-up banners they could find nearby and covered the scene and the man with it. What a sight, I had to get myself really drunk just to get some sleep last night.
