Saksi: Man found dead inside Ermita mall in Manila
A French national identified as Jean Louis Battail died after supposedly jumping from the third floor of Robinsons Place Manila on October 5, reports ABS-CBNNews.com. Battail allegedly jumped while he was being chased by a server of an unidentified restaurant because of the unpaid P4,000 bill he left, according to witnesses' accounts cited by Police Officer 2 Lester Evangelista of the Manila Police District's Homicide Division.
One witness said Battail fell on the ground floor headfirst. ABS-CBNNews.com reports, "(His) skull was (cracked) open and parts of his brain (were) scattered on the floor." Evangelista said Battail carried nothing but his passport, which showed he arrived in Manila on October 1.
Contrary to Evangelista's statement, a supposed witness told Saksi that she saw Battail fall from the fourth floor of the mall, where she herself was at the time. "Nagsigawan lahat ng tao. Sobrang lakas ng impact. (Everybody screamed because of the impact of his fall.)"
