Manny Pacquiao sued by record label for $10 million

Published: Nov 19, 2010 - 9:01am

Fresh from his win against Antonio Margarito, pound-for-pound boxing champ Manny Pacquiao is now facing a $10 million lawsuit for allegedly refusing to record 12 songs.

TMZ.com reports that RBM Group International filed the case, claiming Pacquiao signed a record deal with them last year. The company said the boxer has already deposited the $40,000 check they wrote him for the first two songs in October 2009. The record label also said they have already spent $200,000 on the deal and have lost $10 million worth of profits.

According to PEP.ph, Pacquiao has two albums under his belt: Laban Nating Lahat Ito (2006) and Pac-Man Punch (2007). He also has a single, "Lahing Pinoy," released by GMA Records.

Manny Pacquaio was being sued not because of contract infringement but for singing those songs so badly it distorted the true beauty of those songs. Kidding aside...I love Manny being one of the best boxers I've ever seen but please leave singing to real singers. Sing in Karaoke bars or wherever u want but please don't record. The recording company who said u made contract with...this is really their plan. Recording company who cannot differentiate between a good singing voice and a backyard voice? They just waited for the right moment. Be careful Manny...u don't have what it takes to be a singer.

At the end of the day, Manny agreed...signed a contract...got the $40K talent fee...and deposited the cheque to his bank account. I think he should be liable (that is if everything written is true).

that company obviously doesn't have money and they just want to turn manny into a milking cash cow.rnrnthey had all the time in the world to sue him, why just now?rnrn"The record label also said they have already spent $200,000 on the deal and have lost $10 million worth of profits." - how sure are they that the album is going to sell that well? no offense meant but i believe we are all aware that his singing is not as good as his boxing.
