(SPOT.ph) From relative unknown Stefani Germanotta to Forbes Celebrity number one, Lady Gaga left longstanding top placer Oprah Winfrey settling for second place on Forbes’ annual "The Celebrity 100" 2011 list, according to a report by Reuters.
The Celebrity 100 is a list of top film and television actors, TV personalities models, athletes, authors, musicians and comedians ranking their entertainment-related earnings and media visibility.
It’s only the third time in seven years that Oprah left the top spot on the list. Her reduced pay at SiriusXM radio decreased her income by about 25 million but she still gets hefty amounts from her show and from stars she discovered like Rachel Ray, Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil.
Gaga, whose estimated earnings of $90 million compare dimly to the talk show queen and media mogul’s $290 million, but rose to the plum spot on the list mainly due to her 32 million Facebok fans and 10 million Twitter followers.
"She can use Twitter and Facebook to work 'the little monsters' into a frenzy that leads to record sales and media attention," said Forbes editor Dorothy Pomerantz. "She's the best example of how celebrities will need to manage their careers in the coming years."
Other celebs in the list include Justin Bieber, Leonardo DiCaprio, Elton John and Tiger Woods.
