Boracay's Puka Beach is one of CNN's "50 Best Beaches in the World"

Published: Oct 25, 2011 - 10:30am

Interaksyon.com reports that Boracay's Puka Beach—which is "less developed" than the resort island's famouse White Beach—made it to CNN's listing of the "World's 50 Best Beaches" on its travel site, CNNGo. The site ranked Puka Beach No. 41.

Puka Beach was lauded for being "relatively empty most times, with no resorts on the sand and a limited number of restaurants."

CNN had a good review of Boracay: "Boracay may be a pimped-out tourist zone, but there's a reason it remains atop many travel rankings. Making a respectable claim to its 'tropical paradise'reputation, Boracay has something for everyone, from powdery beaches to water sports and spas."

The No. 1 spot on CNN's list belonged to Matira Beach in Bora Bora, Tahiti.

at Boracay Station 2, there's treated water from the beach to the water... it really smelled funky.... felt sad for the sorry state Boracay will be in a few years.

Bora Bora is so pristine compared to Boracay. Honestly, i think we made a mess out of Boracay. There's already algal blooms in its waters. That means many resorts in Boracay are dumping their refuse, their wastes, in Boracay's once pristine waters. There must be a moratorium on resort building on that former paradise south of Manila!
