Iggy Arroyo's estranged wife Alicia slams Grace Ibuna anew, says, "We should stop celebrating adultery and glorifying homewreckers"

Published: Jan 31, 2012 - 5:40am

The controversy that erupted in the wake of Negros Occidental Rep. Ignacio "Iggy" Arroyo's death continues.

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that Iggy's estranged wife, Alicia "Aleli" Arroyo, wants to make sure that she'll be given the right to decide how Iggy's remains will be handled. Though their marriage was in the process of being annulled, the annulment was never granted so she remains his "legal wife."

In an earlier report, it was revealed that Iggy had not been going home to Alicia since 2005. In fact, when Iggy died in London on January 27, it was his live-in partner Grace Ibuna who was by his side.

Alicia—who became Iggy's second wife after his marriage to Marilen Jacinto was annulled—has a daughter by Iggy, who is referred to in the ABS-CBNNews.com report by her nickname, "Alelu."

The report quoted Alicia, who talked about her plans for Iggy's funeral. She said, "I want to have a simple wake for him, and I hope the family understands. Gusto ko lang talagang maiuwi siya sa anak ko (I just want to bring him home to our child)."

Moreover, Alicia said that Iggy had never told her that he was already with Grace.  However, she also claimed that Iggy "changed" when he was already with Grace. Alicia quipped, "We should stop celebrating adultery and glorifying homewreckers. (If you're the) legal wife, you don’t have to do anything. The law will protect you."

Alicia emphasized that she is considering filing charges against Grace for allegedly "misrepresenting herself as Iggy's legal wife." An earlier report had revealed that Alicia is questioning the fact that Grace was allegedly allowed to make decision about pulling the plug on Iggy's life support system.

Sa panahon po ngayon, ang pagkakaroon ng kasal at mga anak ay hindi garantiya na habambuhay magmamahalan ang mag asawa. The only thing that a husband wont stray is when a wife prioritizes him above everyone and everything else. Men are like kids. Pagalingan na lang sa mga girls ang paglalambing at pag aalaga sa kanila. Pagandahan din. Men always expect their wife to look good sll the time. Not necessarily sexy and made-up always, but presentable in their eyes. That's how you keep them. Very immature pero yun po ang totoo...Kahit pahalagahan pa natin ang ating kasal, if the husband doesn't love and respect his wife, there's no way that he will keep her forever...

Not all mistresses are homewreckers... Aleli knew what he was getting into and what kind of a man iggy was. He pursued Aleli even though he was still married to his first wife. And when he was no longer happy with his second marriage, he simply dumped her. Let's stop blaming the mistress for what the man did. It was him who hurt her, who destroyed their marriage and not the mistress. I'm sure if there was a divorce law in the Philippines, Iggi would have filed for it a long time ago and no one would be calling Grace a mistress. Whatever iggy and grace had, definitely, that was something he never found in Aleli...im sure grace has a charming personality that even the kids from the first wife are friends with her...but not with Aleli, hmmm...Iggy also left a will that grace would look after his remains after he meets our Creator, hmmm...Why? He must have really hated Aleli that he couldn't even trust her on this. Now back to the first line i mentioned, do you really think grace is a homewrecker...i think she is just a loving mistress :)))

@Lawfully wedded and then annulled: So...ano yung mga sinulat mo na Situation 1 to 3, part of a quiz for yourself? Ano yung "dapat masaya ikaw"? Sinong ang kausap mo?

  • Lawfully wedded and then anulled 3 months ago Report Abuse
Situation 1. Yung asawa mo ang magkakaroon ng kabit kasi sabi nga ninyo, dapat masaya ikaw
Situation 2.

Allused, it seems like you're channeling the crazy speech pattern of Zsa-zsa Padilla's Mano Po character. You got it bad. Priceless yung hirit mo: "Now he is dead you make him good." I laughed after my head stopped spinning.

The Simbahang Katolika and their crusading morality police have the hypocritical stand disallowing the return of a divorce law in this land. Yes, there was a divorce law in the Philippines when it was still the property of the Americans and even during the three years of Japanese occupation. Who are the local frayles to dictate when the Bible, read the book of Deuteronomy, allows provisions for divorce?! Who are they to supersede The Word?? Heck, even the Congo has divorce. I exclude the Vatican. No one gets married there, anyway. At least, not to a fellow human being.

Ang daming immoral sa Pilipinas who tolerate the kabit-querida system kaya it reflects so much on our moral fiber as a country! It is always black or white and never gray. If we all remain fence sitters and tolerate immorality, this country has no hope for true change. Kawawa naman tayo!

Wake Up Guys! Divorce should have been legalized long time ago to avoid kabits and kids born out of wedlock. Can you imagine yourself trapped in a marriage that have ended long time ago? It takes two to tango. What if they just grow apart and discover that they be better off as friends or decided to end the marriage? Pinas, di pwede tali ka for life...I salute the marriages which lasted the test of time but at the same time I feel for those who are trapped and wanted out. They deserve happiness as well. Just a thought.....

It's nice to know that mistresses can comfort themselves with the words of Paulo Coelho.

We can never judge the lives of others, because each person knows only their own pain and renunciation. It's one thing to feel that you are on the right path, but it's another to think that yours is the only path.

I admire Ms. Grace Ibuna for the love she showed for the man she truly loves....

This is becoming the battle of the b*tches. Let's all see who wins the stiff body. I can't wait for the juicy details. And of course in the end, the woman who takes the dead body home also gets the billions of money the Arroyo's stole from us. Only in the Philippines. God help our poor soles.

Create your own family and keep it safe. IF walang 'homewreckers' and 'cheating spouses' walang gulo na ganito. Stick to the law na lang...heart aside...emotions aren't to be trusted. Keep your eyes on the Lord

there is something to celebrate about being mistress..it is the true happiness that a "mistress" could bring to a man..that's why he (Iggy) chose her to be with him down to the last second of his life, his last breath....and the legal wife, the law can't do anything about it... how painful for a LEGAL Wife that the "til death do us part" is not her.. but to the other woman, not legal by papers, but by HEART..

@TheObserver: Ex-wife? Under PHILIPPINE LAW she is still married to Iggy (wonder how he got his first marriage annuled, though). Given that the Roman Catholic Church's Taliban-esque hold over our solons' collective necks would mean that there will be no chance that a divorce law proper will be passed in these God-blessed isles, that has never stopped some of them from currying favour within that august body for pushing their own annulments from their respective spouses

    what irony !

“We should stop celebrating adultery and glorifying homewreckers,” aniya.

but she herself is a mistress, kabit and homewrecker after stating that she had a relationship with Iggy during his marriage with the first wife - “After six years, he chased me around the world. He got an annulment after two years"

In my dictionary - being a mistress is someone who is having a relationship with a man who is still cohabitating and living with his wife.

I guess to know one homewrecker is by being one homewrecker too...

there is a reason why she is called EX-wife. It is because her relationship with Iggy already ended. She is the wife of Iggy in legal terms only but is she the true wife in the true sense of the word in the present tense?

puhlease let's drop this "AKO LEGAL WIFE" drama.
