ABS-CBNNews.com reports that Father Conegundo Garganta, the executive sectary of the influential Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), is calling on all Filipinos worldwide to support Filipino-Mexican-American contestant Jessica Sanchez, who is currently part of "American Idol" Top 4. In an interview with reporters on Wednesday, May 9, Garganta said it is but right to vote for the 16-year-old singer.
"With such talent, it's only but proper for us to help and support her especially since she's a youth. I think she's only 16 or 17 years old and she's faced with such a big challenge already," the report quoted Garganta as saying. "Whether or not Jessica Sanchez wins, I hope this will open the door for other people to show their talent to the world."
Sanchez is set to conquer the "Idol" stage once again on Wednesday night (Thursday morning in Manila) along with the other remaining contestants.
