PEP.ph reports that the rumors about President Noynoy Aquino and TV host Grace Lee's break-up started on May 5. That was when Aquino was in Negros Occidental. While there, he gave a speech, wherein he quipped: "Dalawa ho ang bumihag sa puso natin noon dito, e. Baka ho sa pangatlo suwertehin na ako (There were two who enslaved my heart here before. Maybe I'll get lucky with the third one."
PEP.ph then noted that in another provincial trip on May 7 in Pangasinan, Aquino said in his speech: "Noong nakaraang kampanya na nandito ako, sinabi ko sa inyo na maraming magagandang babae dito sa Pangasinan. Pero ngayon, mas dumami pa ang magagandang binibini (When I was here during the campaign, I said there were a lot of beautiful women in Pangasinan. But now, I have to say there are even more lovely ladies here)."
According to PEP.ph, it was presumably the two incidents that led The Philippine Star's Aurea Calica to write the article, "P-Noy alone again?," which was published in the paper's May 9 issue. When Lee was asked by TV Patrol's Marie Lozano about it, Lee answered: "With regards to the headline, I think you should ask him, not me. I was hurt with a lot of articles that were written about me, which are lies and just vicious, íno. So, after that, I just stopped reading newspapers."
