(SPOT.ph) Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista celebrated his 44th birthday last May 12, right around the time that Marvel's The Avengers was showing in Metro Manila theaters. Thus, the movie appears to have served as the inspiration for the billboard depicting Bautista as Superman and some Quezon City councilors as (mostly) characters from The Avengers. Also represented in the billboard as Avengers characters is Quezon City 2nd District Rep. Winston "Winnie" Castelo and his wife, former That's Entertainment member-turned-Quezon City councilor Precious Hipolito-Castelo. The photo has gotten "belated" buzz, as netizens continue to share the image that was initially posted on Blogwatch.tv.
As Blogwatch.tv documented in its #epalwatch Gallery, the image was shared by Twitter user @kingdelrosario. Blogwatch.tv had this as the image caption: "Winnie Castelo's greeting to Mayor Bautista a month ago. 'Billboard structure' between St Peter Church & Ever Gotesco along Commonwealth. High foot traffic! via @kingdelrosario."
Blogwatch.tv's #epalwatch Gallery is a collection of images contributed by netizens showing billboards, posters, or other paraphernalia that supposedly trumpet the names of politicians. As the site noted in the introduction to the gallery, "'Epal' is slang for 'mapapel, a Filipino term for attention grabbers or people who crave a role (papel) in affairs that are not necessarily theirs to handle or decide."
