For mocking Pacquiao online, lawmaker wants Justin Bieber banned from the Philippines

Published: Dec 13, 2012 - 9:27am

A member of the House of Representatives is calling for a government ban to keep pop singer Justin Bieber from setting foot in the Philippines for making fun of boxer and congressman Manny Pacquiao on Instagram.

ABS-CBNnews.com reports Yacap party-list Representative Carol Jane Lopez wants Bieber declared a persona non grata (literally, unwelcome person) in the Philippines over Instagram photos that "were hurtful to all Filipinos who admire the boxing champ."

"Lopez also urged the Filipino youth to stop listening to Bieber's songs and to stop going to his concerts," the report also said.

Party-list representatives are elected to the House of Representatives to work on legislation relevant to the marginalized sectors they represent.

I don't know why this Representatives needs to ban Justin Bieber here in the Philippines(childish). Are they insane? There's a lot of issues in the Philippines that should be prioritize first than doing this to Justin Bieber. For those who likes to ban him, you're just insecure! DUHHH!!!

As if Bieber would lose a lot by banning him. Duh! Ibang klase, pag ganitong kaliit na bagay ang bilis mag-react. Sana ganyan kabilis kayo kumilos pag dating ng pag-pasa ng mga mahahalagang bills that can help the country. Eto ngang si Pacman ang bilis na pinatawad si Bieber bakit hindi mo magawa ito, Ms. Lopez? Kaya nagiging katawa-tawa ang Pilipinas dahil sa mga ganyan eh.

It's not like Manny Pacquiao is the King of freakin' Thailand or something that he deserves lese majeste treatment. One must accept the bitter fact of life that when you lose, your fall becomes fair game for all these prankful Photoshoppers out there. Keeping Justin Bieber off our shores should be the LEAST of our priorities - remember how the local press reacted during his short visit here? How he failed to oblige many of his local fans??

JB is a kid, declaring a persona non grata is like stooping down to his level of maturity.
