(SPOT.ph) Fernando Amorsolo's paintings have stood through time. His pieces, which often depict rural Philippine landscapes, are found in various galleries and museums worldwide. Jorge B. Vargas Museum and Filipiniana Research Center at the University of the Philippines Diliman, for example, display a major collection of the National Artist's works. But if you're looking to experience his masterpieces in a different way, Shangri-La Plaza in Mandaluyong City is hosting an art exhibit of Amorsolo's paintings transformed into LEGO brick mosaic art. PinoyLUG's Project: AMORsolo runs from August 9 to 14 at the mall's Grand Atrium.
Project: AMORsolo is a unique and original concept of PinoyLUG, a community of passionate Filipino LEGO builders accredited and recognized by The LEGO Group. The exhibit was first presented at the Cultural Center of the Philippines from April 29 to May 29 as part of the 50th anniversary of Amorsolo's proclamation as the first National Artist of the Philippines in Visual Arts. It was also made possible through a partnership with the Fernando C. Amorsolo Art Foundation, Inc.
Aside from the free exhibit, Fernando C. Amorsolo Art Foundation, Inc. is also holding a painting workshop for kids on August 13 at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and a sketching session for adults on August 14 at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Fees are P800 and P500, respectively.
Project: AMORsolo runs from August 9 to 14 at the Grand Atrium, Main Wing, Shangri-La Plaza, Shaw Boulevard, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City. To register for the workshop, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. For updates, follow PINOY LUG - LEGO User Group on Facebook.
