Check out these art exhibits in Metro Manila this October:
Countable and Uncountable
Countable and Uncountable touches on assigning a numerical value to human experiences that are specific and personal to Lui Gonzales, who counts the good days while in existence. His works are representations of memories, places, and people that the artist fondly remembers.
Runs from September 27 to October 18 at Artinformal Gallery, The Alley at Karrivin, 2316 Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Makati City. For more information, follow Artinformal Gallery on Facebook.
Haiku in Clay
Featuring works inspired by the environment of Hokkaido in Japan where the artist originated from, Shozo Michikawa demonstrates his "signature style of twisting clay from the inside without disturbing the exterior." Haiku in Clay is Michikawa’s second solo presentation with Silverlens.
Runs from September 22 to October 22 at Silverlens Galleries, 2263 Don Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Makati City. For more information, follow Silverlens Galleries on Facebook.
Sleep Well Beast
Miles Villanueva comes face to face with his inner beast through a series of monochrome paintings on canvas. The works may be perceived as devoid of meanings and relations with each other, but when viewed altogether express slices of reality and whatnot.
Runs from September 16 to October 14 at the Gravity Art Space Gallery, 1810 Mother Ignacia Avenue, Quezon City. For more information, follow Gravity Art Space Gallery on Facebook.
Weather Out
Pin Calacal’s latest works in Weather Out serve as her visual documentation of both internal state of mind and external conditions that are manifested through the pale white figures and landscapes. Calacal’s symbolisms translate into quiet yet personal meditations.
Runs from September 15 to October 15 through cartellino.com.
Manila Art Fair
Both accessible virtually and on-site, the Manila Art Fair is back with a new lineup of participating artists and exhibitors. The fair will include Village Art Gallery, Ysobel Art Gallery, The Artologist, Historia Arts, among others.
Runs from October 19 to October 23 at the SMX Convention Center Aura, 3/F SM Aura Premier, Taguig City. For more information, visit Manila Art Fair's website.
Songs About Honey
A collaboration between Parcel Exhibition and Traveling Library, the portable and traveling project opens up its mailing list for viewers who want to experience the works in their homes or own space. The parcel will feature books and zines by Sarah Conanan, Gab Ferrer, Francis Jerimiah Manaog/PictureLang, Pantay Bituin, Allan Balisi, Lesley-Anne Cao, Jessica Dorizac, Nouet, Sam Feleo, Bryan Pollero, Gale Encarnacion, Fake Zine, and Philip Aldefolio.
Accepts sign-ups starting September 19. For more information, follow Parcel Exhibitions on Instagram.
Visions of Interest
Ramon Diaz, in a solo exhibition, gives highlights to things he recently finds fascinating. The subjects of his works are colorful horses and koi fishes in contrasting backgrounds, and sumo wrestlers in action.
Runs from September 22 to October 8 at Pasilio 18, La Fuerza Gate 1, 2241 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City. For more information, follow J Studio on Instagram.
Babel
Is Jumalon, for her solo Babel, presents a series of works that she attributes to an artistic process "replaced with instinct and impulse." The artist, this time, paints oil on canvas and employs more colors—a slight diversion from her monochromatic works on paper.
Runs from September 14 to October 5 at First basement 5A, Makati Cinema Square, Makati City. For more information, follow Underground Gallery on Facebook.
Personal Identity
Expounding on the Filipino concept kalooban, Isko Andrade visually translates this seemingly complex idea that is embedded within the self. The artist reveals that the insides reflect the physical manifestation on the outside and may be regarded as one’s personal identity.
Runs from September 24 to October 18 at the Eskinita Art Gallery, 59-C Paseo de Roxas, Makati City. For more information, follow Eskinita Art Gallery on Facebook.
404
As the title of the exhibition suggests, 404 makes references to a webpage error that prompts the user when the site is inaccessible. KoloWn’s continuous exploration online greatly informs the physical works—paintings and collages—for this exhibition.
Runs from September 13 to October 8 at The Drawing Room, G/F Building C, Karrivin Plaza, Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Makati City. For more information, follow The Drawing Room Gallery on Facebook.
