(SPOT.ph) Quezon City is so large that it might take you a longer time to drive from White Plains to Fairview than it is to get to Manila from Cubao. This wide landscape is divided into pockets of delicious neighborhoods: South Triangle, Katipunan, Teachers Village, Banawe, and even the more, shall we say, "obscure" areas of the city are sprouting out delicious eats from the most unlikely corners.

It's difficult to describe the theme of this restaurant. Owners Anthony and Dinah Miro are devout Christians and they let Divine Intervention lead their decisions. Because they emphasize faith, generosity, and love, 5 Loaves & 2 Fish opts for a family-friendly setup. The menu is a set of no-fail favorites and the desserts are absolutely divine.

Must-tries: Dulong (P199), Spaghetti with Chicken Parmesan (P225), Pink Guava Cheesecake (P150)

5 Loaves & 2 Fish is at G/F The Rock Lifestyle Hub, Holy Spirit Drive, Don Antonio Heights Subdivision, Quezon City. Read more about 5 Loaves & 2 Fish.

Catabolic Cafe

Amid the homey, rough appeal of most places in Teachers Village, the clean lines and sophisticated warmth of this Nix Alañon-space stands out. The owners wanted a space that's both relaxed and energized—it's the happy result of their gorgeous setting and ace coffee. Their menu is as straightforward as their brews, which are served sans confections so you can appreciate the flavor of the beans.

Must-tries: Chicken and Waffles (P330), Sardines with Truffle Pasta (P310)

The restaurant's interiors take its cue from a treehouse and the owners have created a rustic-shabby chic mood that makes for a very inviting atmosphere.

Buen Comer

Buen Comer is nothing more than a foldaway store on an unasumming corner of Teachers Village, but don't write it off just yet. It's the tiny shop that can, churning out explosive Mexican specialties, as well as the occasional Chef's Special that moves past geography and cusine.

Must-tries: Kare-Kare Burrito (P138), Chicken Quesadilla (P128)

Buen Comer is at Mapagkawanggawa Street corner Mahabagin Street, Quezon City. Read more about Buen Comer.

Papa Diddi's Handcrafted Ice Cream

It might be its auspicious address, not to mention this year-round summer, but Papa Diddi's Handcrafted Ice Cream has been an immediate hit since it opened in the middle of 2015. This ice cream parlor isn't just about serving desserts in scoops; it's for a good cause, too. Paul Perez opened the shop in honor of his father, a closet ice cream artisan. Nowadays, the younger Perez's mission is to promote local farmers in the coolest way.

Must-tries: Roasted Forbidden Rice, Sweet Basil (P55 to P95)

Papa Diddi's Handcrafted Ice Cream is at 168 Maginhawa Street, Teachers Village, Quezon City. Read more about Papa Diddi's Handcrafted Ice Cream.

Lucky Chick

Skull and Bones gave up their mission to be the dream American frat-themed restaurant and has instead dedicated their life in pursuit of delicious fried chicken. Lucky Chick is a center for fowl thrills—all of which are golden, crispy, and juicy. Their focus is on comfort food from the American south, so they're all cornbread and pies and gravy and goodness.

Must-tries: Slow-Roasted Beef Belly (P310), Spaghetti and Chick (P258)

Lucky Chick is at UP Town Center, Quezon City. Read more about Lucky Chick.

Bizu Creperie

You can still find some of Bizu's bestsellers on the menu, but this sub-brand definitely has its own identity. Bizu takes their expertise for confectionary to create one of those most technically difficult (and delicious) dishes ever: crepes. Chef Xander Tanco makes the thinnest, crispiest, most delicate things, and we love how they're consistently delicious whether you order sweet or savory. Right now, Bizu Creperie offers mostly flat crepes, but they're planning authentic buckwheat versions (it adds a deep nutty flavor) as well as a cake!

Must-tries: White Coconut (P195), Beurre Sucre (P185)

Bizu Creperie is at 2/F Eastwood Mall, Quezon City. Read more about Bizu Creperie

Rock & Seoul

Rock your soul with rice in this cool bibimbap bar that allows you to create your own personal bowl of yum. Rock & Seoul is brought to us by the Relish Group, which is also responsible for Wee Nam Kee, Osaka Ohsho, and Kumori. It marries old-school rock with rice, creating puns like Bap Street Boys and Tofu Fighters. If you're feeling uncreative (give it a try first), Rock & Seoul can spark your inventive juices with some pre-made combinations.

Must-tries: Mexican Taco (P270), Korean Fried Chicken (P260)

Rock & Seoul is at The Block, SM North EDSA, Quezon City. Read more about Rock & Seoul.

The Lost Bread HQ

The Lost Bread at StrEAT Food Park ate too many milkshakes and grew to a bigger, second branch where the desserts are even more overblown and savor-tooths can finally have something to indulge on. The Lost Bread HQ is a full sit-down cafe that offers more than just desserts. While french toast is still a specialty here, you can have a more diverse selection for your all-day breakfast needs.

Must-tries: Grilled Cheese French Toast (P170), Chocolate Granola Blue Soft-Serve (P85)

The Lost Bread HQ is at 80 Maginhawa Street, Teachers Village, Quezon City. Read more about The Lost Bread HQ.

Cafe Enye

How about a Spanish buffet to sate your appetite? Though this smorgasboard caters to all meals of the day, it has a certain panache for breakfast. We love how Cafe Enye takes the ordinarily dim Spanish setup and turns it to something bright, cheery, and modern—while maintaining those classic stained glass, wood, and brick elements. The cuisine isn't strictly Spanish. You'll find other Latin favorites sneaking in the line-up, too!

Must-tries: Lechon Cubano (P280), Chouxros with Dulce De Leche Ice Cream (P170)

Cafe Enye is at Excelsior Building, Eastwood Avenue, Libis, Quezon City. Read more about Cafe Enye.
