(SPOT.ph) In June 2019, Japanese lifestyle store MUJI made headlines and generated the funniest reactions online thanks to their meme-worthy bath dipper—famously dubbed the tabeau—which at the time was priced at P365. In late 2020, we spotted a stylish dupe you can shop for just P80 and now, we found another #aesthetic tabo and it's only P44! Say hello to Japan Home Centre's (wait for it) transparent water ladle

Where most bath dippers—commonly considered a staple tool in Filipino homes—tend to sport a plain design in a solid color, this one from Japan Home Centre takes minimalism to its logical extreme, doing away with any kind of color and opting for a transparent design from end to end. True to the shop's budget-friendly reputation, it retails for less than P50. Plus, it's multipurpose—you can use it in the kitchen as a bowl for washing fruits and veggies!

Now, typically a store advertises their products by showing their stylish design or notable functions, but Japan Home Centre took a different approach. In an August 19 Facebook post, the home store decided to throw a little shade by posting the dipper with the caption "if you have P67 billion, you can get 1,522,727,272 pieces of this 44-peso tabo."

In case you don't know, the Commission on Audit recently flagged deficiencies in the Department of Health’s management of pandemic funds worth about P67 billion. Just think of all the household necessities and life essentials—tabo or otherwise—that could have been purchased with that much money.
