(SPOT.ph) Holidays almost always mean food, and a lot of food. Your calendar’s probably booked with potluck reunions and all-night partying at this point—and it's highly likely that you no longer have time to hit the gym. If you’re looking to get back on track, Optimal Health offers weekly High Intensity Interval Training sessions called HIIT The Park at Legazpi Active Park in Makati City. Sessions are for free—you just have to show up every Sunday at 4 p.m.

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) starts with high intensity exercise, like body building and cardio drills, followed by low intensity resting periods. You get more results for less, and the benefits include fat-burning, strength training, and endurance-building. It’s a fast, furious, and fun workout that could even gain you fellow friends whose 2020 goals also include getting fit.

Fitness instructor Third Jocson, a fitness coach at Manila Peninsula and San Lorenzo Village, lead each workout. It’s outdoors, so you won’t feel stifled by confined fitness studios or your cramped bedroom. This also means that the sessions go on rain or shine—you’ll get the added benefit of breathing the fresh air as you break a sweat.

Make sure you’re physically up for a particularly strenuous workout! If you’re pregnant, have a history of heart disease or knee injuries, or just not sure if HIIT is a good idea for you, consult your doctor before joining any of the sessions. For more information on what to expect, call 0939-939-6186.
