Rosario trailer earning raves, making waves on the Internet
Will this beautifully crafted film be the Metro Manila Filmfest favorite?
The trailer of the Cinemabuhay and Studio 5’s "Rosario" is making waves on the Web and is earning raves on Facebook walls and Twitter updates early in the game. The Jennylyn Mercado-starrer is based on a true story and is an official entry for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). Produced by business mogul Manny V. Pangilinan and directed by Albert Martinez, Rosario is based on the life of Pangilinan’s grandmother. Showbiz insiders say Mercado’s acting in the film is remarkable.
Based on the trailer alone, the film’s cinematography and meticulous production design shine on screen, capturing the look and feel of the Philippines in the 1920s. No expense is spared for the film’s costumes, accessories and hair and makeup. According to a report by PEP.ph, Mercado said it took four hours to do her hair alone. Mercado also had to attend workshops and Spanish classes to prepare herself for the film.
Others who worked on the film include Carlo Mendoza (Director of Photography), Elmer Gatchalian (Screenplay), Albert Chang (Musical Score), Miki Hahn (costume designer) and Warren Munar (makeup designer).
