(SPOT.ph) Milky & Sunny, a new all-day breakfast joint in Kapitolyo, Pasig, is gaining a following thanks to word of mouth, homey and whimsical interiors, and of course, comfort food dished out in hearty servings. Milky & Sunny was borne from a love for breakfast food, says co-owner Bernard Decloedt, and the response to the resto has been "phenomenal" because of social networking sites and blogs, including that of Saab Magalona’s.
The cozy restaurant, decked out in white and aquamarine, rests right next to the new Moonleaf Tea Shop along East Capitol Drive. The cheery cartoon-esque logo matches the quirky interiors-mismatched framed prints, vintage wall decor plus cutesy paintings for sale-makes dining at Milky & Sunny a sensory experience.
Their all-day breakfast fare include Bacon Tostadas (P100), crispy fried tortilla topped with fresh salsa and bacon bits and the Breakfast Enchiladas (P200), with mushrooms, spinach, and pinto beans with salsa topped with cheddar cheese all wrapped inside a soft tortilla. Nothing says "comfort food" more than their Bacon & Spam Pasta (P180), which has creamy white sauce topped with Spam and bacon bits and their vegetarian dish, Broccoli & Mushroom Casserole (P180), baked with Milky & Sunny’s signature special cream and topped with crackers.
No Pinoy breakfast is complete without rice meals and Milky & Sunny’s Tapa (P160), served with garlic rice and eggs (your choice of scrambled or fried), is an easy and satisying choice. Another filling dish is the Italian Omelette (P130), stuffed with red and green bell peppers, potatoes, and sausage bits.
Love fluffy pancakes? We recommend the Strawberry Cream Cheese Pancakes (P140)-with cream cheese and strawberry jam slathered in between pancake layers, topped with butter, then served with maple syrup and apple and peach slices on the side. If you prefer French toast, go for Banana Kingkong (P130) with sweet banana slices and hints of cinnamon and chocolate.
If you think you’ll be needing another reason to go back, Decloedt says they’ll be coming out with more desserts plus Christmas-themed dishes in the next few weeks.
