(SPOT.ph) A Pinoy Christmas is not complete without the dishes you grew up with, such as Crispy Pork Belly, Kare-kare and Chicken Relleno, made special for the family get-together. This holiday season, Chef Ed Quimson of Spanish restaurant, La Tasca, and chef Booj Supe takes over the Asian kitchen of Mandarin Oriental’s Paseo Uno from December 5 to 18 to whip up traditional Filipino dishes fit for a grand feast.
A stalwart of slow food, Chef Ed will showcase his Filipino-Spanish heritage and will highlight traditional Pinoy home cooking with Spanish influence. Pile on a helping of his Kilawin na Tanigue sa Gata on your plate, which combines sour notes from white vinegar and creamy tones from fresh gata while his Crispy Pork Belly with Two Sauces is a porcine pleaser-the pork is boiled and twice-fried, resulting in tender, well-seasoned chops served with sweet soy lemongrass sauce.
Make sure to try the Paella Tinola, a dish that puts together the subtle ginger flavors of tender, boiled chicken and the soft, broth-flavored dinorado rice. Other dishes on the buffet spread include Fried Chicken sa Sampalok, Binagoongan sa Calamansi, and Pancit Buko. "Filipino food is so diverse and flavorful and we are incredibly excited to bring Chef Ed's specialties to Paseo Uno, just in time for festive gatherings and family reunions with balikbayans," says director of food and beverage Chico Angeles.
The buffet spread will be available for lunch and dinner and is priced at P1,650+ on weekdays while the Friday and Saturday dinner is priced at P2,200+, inclusive of Paseo Uno's Luxury Buffet.
