Writers, The Virgin Labfest Is Now Open to Script Submissions
The Virgin Labfest will choose 12 new one-act plays this year!
(SPOT.ph) It's not always easy to gain your own ground when it comes to performing arts. The opportunity to stage unpublished, unstaged works for theater is something no scriptwriter should pass up. Now on its 15th year, the Virgin Labfest will be choosing 12 one-act plays of various themes and genres, and writers can submit their unpublished scripts until February 28.
Writers can submit one-act plays written in Filipino, English, Cebuano, Hiligaynon, or Ilocano, though a Filipino translation of the work must be provided if it's written in a language other than Filipino. Works should not have been published in book form; staged commercially more than two times; or received any literary or dramatic recognition in other competitions.
The maximum running time for your written play should not exceed 40 minutes (roughly 25 to 30 pages) and the file should be submitted in .doc/.docx or .pdf format only. There's no need to drop off a physical copy of the script: submissions can be done via e-mail and sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Virgin Labfest is a partnership project of Writer's Bloc, Tanghalang Pilipino, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines. It is held every June at Tanghalang Huseng Batute at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
