Bonifacio Global City gets a facelift
...by way of the awesome new murals from ArtBGC 2016.
(SPOT.ph) "Bonifacio Global City is really designed to be a walking city," said Monica Llamas, Art Program Manager of Bonifacio Art Foundation, Inc.
Indeed it is, especially after artists from around the world decorated its huge firewalls, gutters, and parking lots with vibrant murals and graffiti to make exploring the area on foot more exciting and interesting. One can even keep an eye out for the talented individuals until tomorrow, May 21, as they get down and dirty with their brushes and paint in various locations within Bonifacio Global City (BGC).

ArtBGC's Mural Festival 2016, a 10-day event, is a project of the Bonifacio Art Foundation, Inc. in collaboration with LeBasse Projects and Honeycomb Communities. "I was here in Manila four years ago for another project. I went to BGC and, immediately, I saw all the giant walls and I thought to myself, we have to paint these. There's so many of them. It's actually a unique thing. In Los Angeles, if you have a big wall like that, it will be covered with billboard," narrated LA-based Beau Basse.
The mural festival is now in its sophomore run and most of the works from 2015 are still as eye-catching. "We wanted to do it again, add to the collection, so to speak," Llamas added. "Our aim is to make [BGC] an informal outdoor museum."

Artists PastelFD, Andrew Schoultz, HOT TEA, Bunnie Reiss, Aleks Kocev, and Blaine Suque were flown in to connect not only with our own talented communities but also with the people walking in and out of BGC. Representing the Philippines in the festival are Kris Abrigo, Trip 63, and the ArtBGC Open Call winner, KFK. The selected artists have turned the walls along W 5th, NET One, Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Stopover, and BGC Corporate Center into huge canvasses.
