(SPOT.ph) Transwing Art Gallery in Quezon City will offer free lessons to artists interested in oil painting on August 13, 2 to 5 p.m. The workshop will be facilitated by their resident artist Emmanuel Nim.
Nim will discuss the origin, fundamentals, characteristics, and techniques of oil. He will also explain how to prepare the canvas properly, what materials are appropriate for the medium, and how to maximize the tools you have. Finally, he will demonstrate a step-by-step procedure for how to capture a model’s likeness on canvas in just an hour.

Nim is affiliated with the Erehwon Art Collective, which made the "Tagaligtas: Heroic 44" mural, a tribute to the men who died in the Mamasapano massacre in January 2015. The canvas, which stretches for 7 by 26 feet, was completed in just three weeks. It "realistically depicts each and every member of the SAF 44 in their combat gear and uniform, portrayed as they are about to go into combat in realistic formations and stances," Erehwon founder Raffy Benitez described. An expert in portraiture, Nim's love for the human figure and concerns for Mother Nature often intertwines in his works as he strives to create realistic representations with impressions of social reality.
The lecture is free to the public. Only 30 seats available. Reservations can be done through Eventbrite. Transwing Art Gallery is at 102 West Avenue, Barangay Phil-Am, Quezon City. For more information, visit Transwing's Facebook page.
