(SPOT.ph) There's no limit to the craft and artistry exhibited by Filipinos from all over the country, gaining well-deserved recognition not only locally but also globally. Pampanga's Bituin Family has proven so time and time again as JB Woodcrafts and Betis Crafts continue to produce export-quality furniture with designs that are able to consistently capture the different tastes of the market. This year, the Bituin family will once again be put under the spotlight along with other Filipino artisans at the upcoming Manila FAME in April.
Manila FAME is the bi-annual trade fair showcasing Filipino creativity and craftsmanship. Every year, they feature world-class offerings from Filipino artisans; highlighting the vibrant mix of cultures and rich heritage in the country. This year, the first exhibition will be taking place at the World Trade Center from April 25 to 27.
“From the very first venture of JB Woodcrafts, we now have 45 years in the industry and joining international trade fairs such as the Manila FAME has been instrumental to our success," says Myrna Bituin, who founded JB Woodcrafts with her husband Jose Bituin.
The furniture company has come a long way: What started out as a small business of building, buying, and selling pieces has now evolved into a conglomerate of design-centric companies founded by Bituin's four children. Carrying on the family legacy, their children have come up with various ways to cater to the different demands of the global market's competitive nature.
“Other countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia and China might emerge as major [competitors], but the country is thriving because platforms like Manila FAME effectively showcase our edge and niche in the global market—and that is the Filipino brand of creativity," Bituin remarks.
Manila FAME, organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (the export promotion arm of the Department of Trade and Industry), is considered as the country's premier design and lifestyle event. The event features finely selected furniture, home furnishings, holiday gifts and décor, and fashion accessories all designed and crafted in the Philippines.
As the first Manila FAME event of 2019 approaches, the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) is once again opening its doors to local and international exhibitors and buyers alike.
Manile Fame 2019 will run from April 25 to 27. For more information, visit Manila FAME's website.
