Move Over, Where's Waldo?: #TaguanArtPH Gathers More Than 1,000 Artists in One Canvas
The hashtag trended online on Tuesday night.
(SPOT.ph) Art exhibits, artist talks, and gallery openings used to be surefire ways for art enthusiasts and artists to meet and greet fellow artists. But the ongoing quarantine forced us to stay home and find virtual exhibitions to satisfy our thirst for some new art. Local artist Restart has found a way to gather more than 1,000 artists in a single platform through the project #TaguanArtPH.
"I wanna do a massive collab with all ph artists, using the concept of "Where's Waldo?" wouldn't it be cool to find yourselves crammed in a single page with the art ph community?" @Sntmntlrestart said in a tweet posted on August 23. "I wanted this to be a way of interaction [especially] for small art accounts that’s a little shy and new to the platform. Think of it as a game where they can interact with each other by finding themselves in this [art-filled] canvas of ours," he previously told Preen.ph.
For the past three weeks, local artists have been sending him full-body illustrations of their art personas. Today, September 15, the digital copy of the collaboration was released into the wild. It features a total of 1,426 avatars of artists, put together in one digital canvas. The "Hard Mode" version of the beach party-themed illustration will be released at 8 p.m.
The hashtag trended on Twitter as artists posted digital renderings of themselves online. Memes, of course, were thrown in for a bit of fun.
