Dine in Style, Feed the World in Restaurants listed in Miele Guide
For the whole month of August you can dine in the best restaurants in Asia while doing your share to combat hunger and poverty in the region. Fifty seven restaurants, a majority of which are listed in The Miele Guide 2008/2009 are offering special set menus or promotions for featured dishes from which 15 % of the revenue will be donated to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP)’s efforts in Timor Leste, one of the poorest countries in Asia.
"It takes only US$50 to feed one child a year," says the WFP. Miele aims to raise US$200,000, which can feed 4,000 children a year. The kids will receive aid in the form of meals in schools, Mother and Child Health anti-malnutrition programs and projects building up the infrastructure and assets of the local communities.
The 57 participating restaurants are in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, where nine restaurants have joined the drive: Antonio’s Fine Dining, Bizu Bistro, Chateau 1771, Chef Laudico Bistro Filipino, Cirkulo Restaurant, Kanin Club, Le Soufflé at Fernandos, People’s Palace and Sentro 1771.
