5 Food Pairings That Are Actually Perfect
They were made for each other.
(SPOT.ph) We’re always up to try strange, new flavor combos; after all, peanut butter and jelly isn’t the only winning pair out there. But while experimenting and trying totally wacky food mashups is always fun, we have to tip our hats to the tried and true food pairings we grew up loving and eating. Here are 5 of our favorites:
Dinuguan and puto
There’s no easy way to explain why dinuguan (pork and blood stew just in case you forgot) and puto are so perfect together, so we’ll just chalk it up to the Filipinos’ eclectic tastes.
Chicken and spaghetti
There’s just something about this combo that brings a smile to our faces. Young or old, we’re always up for some fried chicken and Filipino-style spaghetti!
Champorado and tuyo
This is possibly the craziest food combo out there, and yet this homegrown favorite of chocolate rice porridge and fried dried fish is a beloved part of every Filipino’s childhood.
Green mango and bagoong
The sour tanginess of the mango mixes with the saltiness of shrimp paste to make a unique gastronomical experience that works on the streets just as well in high-class restaurants.
Kanin + Knorr Liquid Seasoning
It’s affordable, it’s delicious, it’s filling. Adding a generous splash of Knorr Liquid Seasoning to your hot cup of rice can turn it into a more exciting side dish. The all-around kitchen companion adds that extra kick needed to bring anything to the head of the pack. Now, your seasoning-enhanced grains is ready to be paired with anything.
