Neutral tones, bright plates-that’s the winning combination of Café Eight
(SPOT.ph) At first glance, nothing seems out of the box at Café Eight. No whimsical touches. No striking elements. It's what you would expect a hotel buffet to be-pristine, chic, and in order. Neutral tones dominate the interiors, but perhaps it’s a way to make the fusion of colors and flavors in each plate stand out.
Nude colors create a soft backdrop for the vibrant dishes.
Café Eight, Crimson Hotel's main restaurant, aims to be the buffet destination in the South. Although barely a year old, the dining newbie dares to raise the bar with its tempting flavors on offer. Italian Executive Chef Alessio Loddo and his skilled kitchen staff are on a mission to take guests on a gastronomical tour from Southern Europe all the way to the Middle East with carefully concocted dishes.
Asparagus and Bacon Wrap with Parmesan
Beef Teriyaki Salad
Prawns and Pomelo on Pineapple Juice
Start strong with the Asparagus and Bacon Wrap with Parmesan, which features an interesting mix of crisp textures with a tangy kick. It's a sophisticated take on the greens-and-meat combo we all love. Another crowd-pleaser is the Prawns and Pomelo on Pineapple Juice where each perfectly cooked prawn is a refreshing showcase of sweet and sour flavors. The Beef Teriyaki Salad with Shiitake Mushroom is a bit of a tease, what with each tender strip wrapped only in slight sweetness. It's a welcome variation, though, as it does not overwhelm the palate, allowing for the binge dining expected at a buffet.
Pork Spare Ribs
Café Eight sets the spotlight on different kinds of cuisine every month and currently, Asian food choices are being highlighted. The Vegetable Dumplings are noteworthy: each piece is generously stuffed with fresh-tasting, healthy filling. For something savory, gorge on Chicken Feet and Pork Spare Ribs. No doubt meticulously prepared, the spices are used with so much precision that there's a satisfying sense of balance achieved in every bite.
A dessert teaser
A dizzying dessert spread awaits guests. With a selection of fruits, cheesecakes, and chocolate creations lined up, there are more ways than one to cap off the Café Eight experience.
With its tasteful interiors, quiet ambiance, and palate-teasing buffet spread, Café Eight might just be the much-needed food escape for professionals, locals, and visitors of the bustling South.
Café Eight's buffet is priced P1,250++.
