Home Baker Highlight: Sweet Bite by Bianca

She’s sweet without going overboard...just like her cupcakes.

(SPOT.ph) For something called Sweet Bite, Bianca Samar’s pastries and confections aren’t very sweet. Her flavors are unmistakeably distinct, but sugar levels are kept at bay. Enough to tease your sweet tooth, but also enough to make you finish a box and a half without any trouble.

Perhaps "accidents" are the most frequent ingredients she uses in her craft. Baking stemmed from her mother’s influence, but turning a hobby into a business was a fortunate twist of fate. "My officemate asked if I (could) be her souvenir supplier for her wedding and I agreed. The rest was history," she says.

The 22-year-old home baker finds inspirations from her own preferences-"Our products are my personal favorites. I dont just make sweets to adhere to the demand and market. I make them because I really like them"-still she has a way of turning happenstance into something fruitful. The literal kind. Like the Naughty Banana Cupcake (P60). This type of creative process has led her to come up with diet-forgetting items like Sweet Oreos (P60) and Revelious Bars (P180/eight).

"As (for) the other premium cupcake flavors like Wild Almond (P70), I was inspired by my favorite donut brand," she said, referring to J.Co’s popular almond-speckled Al Capone. This is her ammo: a knack for converting what she loves into a cup and baking them. Sexy Bunny (P60) came from her favorite carrot bar, Double Trouble (P180/eight) is her mom’s recipe tailored to her own taste, Halle Berry (P60) is a throwback to the popular Heaven Berry donut and her love for shortcake.

Sweet Bite by Bianca are luscious-looking treats: shiny chocolate, large poufs of frosting, crowns of fresh fruit. But as sinful as things like Kinky Scarlet (red velvet crinkles with cream cheese filling, P180/eight) and Choco Bites (chocolate vanilla pretzel cupcakes, P60) look and sound, she knows how to temper the sweetness-and of course, trim down the calories. A bit.
