(SPOT.ph) Bright and robust flavors, spices and peppers to arouse the palate, fresh ingredients that make even vegetables appealing to anyone. There’s nothing you can’t like about Mexican food. The appeal is obvious and with coquetry that’s hard to turn down, it was only a matter of time before Oakroom, which is famous for its international food festivals, offered their own take: a Tex-Mex Buffet.

Refried beans and quesadillas

Grilled fajitas, cheesy quesadillas, chili con carne, beefy chimichangas, chicken enchiladas, and stuffed burritos are there for sure, but there’s more to the fiesta than the classics. Six salads were created to pacify light appetites, including a taco salad that’s loaded with guacamole, jalapeño, and spiced ground beef-crisp nachos lending crunch to every bite-and the Santa Fe chopped salad, a more subdued affair with corn kernels and green beans tossed in a creamy dressing. If you’re one for individuality, a nacho bar with your choice of tortilla chips, cheese, and fixings lets you enjoy your own Tex-Mex adventure.

Pulled Pork Salad

Other Southern options invade the carving station. Joining the leg of ham and slow-roasted beef brisket are buffalo wings and fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs. The Corona Beef Strips and Tequila Bacon Gambas have both been infused with liquor for a subtle but still savory taste. Free-flowing margaritas and virgin Shirley Temples help wash down the strong seasoning and spices of the dishes.

Tres Leches Cake

For dessert, the tres leches cake, banana cheesecake, and key lime pie, which by sheer size may play second fiddle to the pile of thick and long churros sitting beside a chocolate fountain, are instant crowd-drawers. There's nothing quite like ending a gastronomic fiesta with a good dessert. And there’s nothing quite like ending the busy work week with a satisfying binge. Oakroom’s Tex-Mex Buffet is running every Friday, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., until September 26.
