A restaurant in Japan sells a no-shrimp shrimp burger

Only in Japan

(SPOT.ph) Just when we thought Japanese eateries couldn't surprise us anymore, we hear about Lotteria, a hamburger chain that's selling a burger without the actual burger.

As reported in Rocket News 24, the Ebi Nashi Baagaa (translated as "no-shrimp burger") costs 210 yen (almost P78). It's made up of a bun, lettuce, and tartar sauce. Doesn't that make it just a sandwich, though? The promotional material looks mouthwatering, but social media snaps from intrigued customers fail to live up to that image.

According to the same report, the burger (and the restaurant) isn't experiencing some sort of existential crisis. It's actually a marketing ploy before Lotteria introduces a real ebi burger, a way to remind customers that their burgers are good even without a patty.

As much as we like Japanese food, we're sticking to real burgers here in the Philippines.
