No more umami fries? Shine Bakery announces shutdown

Where do we get our eclairs now?

 

(SPOT.ph) Shine Bakery & Cafe, that whimsical wonderland on the third floor of SM Aura Premier, has announced via Facebook that they will be closing for good by the end of May. 

 

Shine, which opened in late 2013, was an offshoot of the now-defunct and oft-missed Gourmandise Patisserie, a Parisian paradise which introduced Manila to premium eclairs and sweets. Shine was helmed by celebrity chefs Rob and Sunshine Pengson, and it picked up where Gourmandise left off, adding a few more savory tricks to the menu.

The eclairs and its seasonal flavors were always something to look forward to, but it was also particularly famous for the Parmesan Nori Fries, which featured thick-cut strips of potatoes embellished with flakes of seaweed and cheese.
