TRENDING: Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches
And where to get them in Manila
(SPOT.ph) Plain old ice cream sandwiches are so last year (we should know, we made a list). Restaurants and other food entrepreneurs have taken this sinful sammie up a notch: Behold, ice cream sandwiched in churros. This trend is currently taking California by storm, but Manila is catching up. If you're looking for this cool and crispy treat, we'll tell you where to look.
This young, home-based business started when a few aspiring entrepreneurs decided to take their shared love for cinnamon further. The spice is integrated in all of their products, including their bestselling Churro Ice Cream Sandwich. Everything is made from scratch, including the ice cream. The Bark has several flavors (and counting). The one's we've taken note of so far are plain, red velvet, and Oreo. You can fill it with any flavor ice cream you want.

Churreria La Lola
It seems only fitting that this churros emporium would come out with their own version of a churro ice cream sandwich. La Lola makes thinner versions of their churros and winds them up to create two little discs. Customers can choose between two artisan ice cream flavors Vanilla and Chocolate. Rambla is owned by the same folks behind La Lola. They have their own version of this decadent treat—something even more outrageous. It's called a Churroreo, an Oreo-looking ice cream sandwich. It's a cylinder of vanilla ice cream stuck between two chocolate churro swirls. The whole sugar-sprinkled thing sits in a luscious pool of caramel sauce.
Rambla is at G/F Joya Building, Joya Drive, Rockwell, Makati City. Read more about Rambla.
This newly opened dessert nook offers no-frills churro ice cream sandwiches. The discs are about the size of a coaster, soft but with a crispy exterior, hugging a fat scoop of ice cream in your preferred flavor (we say get the Salted Caramel).
Dairy Depot is at Archers Nook Building, Taft Avenue, Manila.
