This truffle-themed dinner will impress your Valentine

( This is hardly the first time we’ve waxed poetic about Chef Mark Tan’s culinary demonstrations. We’ve devoured his Market Menu, marveled at his moist and flavorful Cote de Beouf, and have been stuffing ourselves silly with his addicting chorizo bread since his early Studio Kitchen days.


For this weekend, though, the chef is whipping up something special, highlighting a very prized ingredient: Perigord truffles. These black truffles from Perigord, France, are in season only during the autumn-winter harvest, so this is probably the last time you can taste these earthy gems until the last quarter of the year. “If you’re going to use truffles, might as well use a lot,” says chef Mark. We couldn’t agree more.


Allium’s seasonal truffle menu is cleverly designed, showing off the truffle in different ways. Each course progresses steadily—from the light and extremely fresh bluefin tuna toro tartare starter to the extra creamy, soft scrambled eggs with subtly sweet snow crab to the delightfully hearty Wagyu beef cooked two ways.



Truffle is an ingredient that some might find too overwhelming for the palate, but this isn’t the case at Allium. Resplendent dishes, spot-on service, and a glass of sparkling wine sourced from the south of France (it’s part of your meal!); we can’t think of a better place to cozy up with your favorite eating partner this weekend.
