(SPOT.ph) You see the sign every time you drive towards emerging food stop Uptown Place Mall or night spot The Palace: the huge banner "Salvatore Cuomo" spread over a block of space. The premium Italian restaurant finally has an opening date—June 2. 

 

Known in Japan as the "Grand Chef," Salvatore Cuomo is an Italian-Japanese chef who specializes in authentic Neapolitan-style cuisine. He's made several appearances on shows like Iron Chef Japan (where he and his brother Raffaele lost to Iron Chefs Hiroyuki Sakai and Rokusab0ro Michiba in 1995's Battle Tomato). He has also written three books: Welcome to Neapolitan Dining Table (1995), Happy Pasta (1997), and Sun’s Dining Table (1999).

His eponymous restaurant in Manila, brought over by the Am-Phil Group and its partners, will be a whopping 475-square-meter space that can seat 140. Expect top-notch thin-crust pizzas—made with only the freshest ingredients, proprietary bufala mozzarella cheese, and imported tomato sauce—baked in a wood-fire oven that uses a mix of local beech wood and imported composite wood.  

 

Salvatore Cuomo will be at Uptown Parade, Uptown Bonifacio.
