(SPOT.ph) When 22 Prime, the flagship restaurant at Discovery Suites, says they've teamed up with the U.S. Meat Export Federation, you know they mean business. If you're a serious meat eater, take this as an opportunity to feast on limited-edition quality American steaks, which pair perfectly with the steakhouse's selection of wines.
With Executive Chef Gerwin Bailon taking the lead, guests can expect choice cuts done to perfection. He tells us, "When it comes to preparing our steaks, our culinary team starts off the process by putting the right amount of salt and pepper to amplify the natural flavor and hold the moisture of the meat. The team religiously checks the internal temperature of the meat to achieve the preferred doneness of our diners."
Sous Vide Boston Pork
You don't need a knife for the Sous Vide Boston Pork (P575). Laboriously cooked for eight hours, the meat is pleasantly tender, smoky, and savory. It's served with jalapeño mac 'n cheese, with a creamy, soft texture that's balanced by the crunch of the maple glazed vegetables.
Barbecue Short Ribs
22 Prime's signature steak sauce, with a hint of acidity, shines in the Barbecue Short Ribs (P975). Add dimension to each forkful by including portions of the cornbread and crispy potato strings. The cornbread is light and subtly flavored, which prevents your palate from being overwhelmed by the fat in the meat.
Slow Roasted Beef Belly
The Slow Roasted Beef Belly (P550) is served with truffle barley risotto, which actually ends up as the star of the show. The aroma and smooth mouthfeel will leave you wanting more.
These limited-edition items are only available until December 15. But no need to worry, because the ever-reliable bestsellers are not going anywhere.
Take, for example, the Lobster Bisque (P408), which could be your go-to comfort food. It's warm, rich, and not too thick, letting the fresh taste of the lobster come through.
Surf 'n Turf
The Surf 'n Turf (P1,577.31) is always a good choice. You get the best of both worlds with the grilled Angus ribeye and jumbo prawns in one plate.
Prime's Tomahawk (P4,892) challenges you to go big or go home. The hefty serving of Angus bone in ribeye with grilled asparagus, tomato Parmesan gratin, and potato gratin is the choice for extreme carnivores.
Walnut Carrot Cake
And for dessert, there's the delicate Walnut Carrot Cake (P305), a sweet and fluffy creation that's made more irresistible with the addition of crispy, maple-glazed bacon.
22 Prime is also cooking up delicious feasts for the holidays. Their Christmas Set Menu (P1,850++), featuring Sous Vide Turkey and Grilled Angus NY Striploin, will be on offer from December 16 to January 1. Their Christmas Eve Dinner (P1,770++) will highlight Roast of Prime Rib and Holiday Turkey, while their New Year's Eve Dinner (P1,850++) will be a buffet spread of soup, salad, and dessert, with a choice of main course from the grill.
