One of Singapore's top bakeries is opening in Manila next year

Baker & Cook and Plank Sourdough Pizza are coming to town!

 

(SPOT.ph) 2016 saw many internationally renowned chefs setting up shop in the Philippines, and it looks like 2017 is starting off in the same vein. On January 11, 2017, world-famous baker Dean Brettschneider will be opening two shops here in Manila: Baker & Cook and Plank Sourdough Pizza. The stores will be right beside each other at S Maison.

Dean is a celebrity baker from New Zealand, who became famous in his home country and neighboring Australia for his handcrafted bread, as well as for writing several cookbooks. He expanded internationally by opening Baker & Cook in Singapore, serving a wide range of bread and pastries plus coffee and an all-day brunch menu of bakery-inspired dishes. The first Baker & Cook along Hillcrest Avenue proved to be a huge success not just for their bread but also for their cozy ambiance, and Dean has since expanded the artisanal bakery to other locations in Singapore, and now, for the first time, in the Philippines.

Plank Sourdough Pizza is a spin-off of Baker & Cook, with the pizza place using the sourdough from the bakery for their crust. Based on the menu of the Singapore store, the pizza toppings range from the classic tomatoes, mozzarella, and parma ham, to smoked salmon and capers. 2017 is already shaping up to be an exciting year for bread and pizza lovers.
