(SPOT.ph) Joel Binamira just made every lechon lover's day by posting on Instagram that the famous Zubuchon is coming to Manila. In a phone interview with SPOT.ph, Joel shared, "we’ve been wanting to come for the last few years but we’ve really been looking for the right space," adding that the first Manila branch of Zubuchon, which they're looking to open in Makati by late February, will offer lechon that is "as close to original as we can get it."
They'll be shipping raw ingredients from Cebu and Negros and roasting on site, and staying true to what made Zubuchon such a hit. "[We'll still be a place to] get straightforward food honestly made and there’s no shortcuts, there’s no MSG, there’s no sort of preservatives or food colorings so the whole idea is to do it really well and to do it, and at a decent price," says Joel. Let's just say we couldn't keep our chill.
Going through something like the five stages of grief, we mourned the loss of our determination to eat healthier this year. But really, did it even have a chance, in the face of crispy succulent lechon?
"AAAAAAHHHHHH!" Everyone who's had a taste of this lechon knows that excitement is a bit of an understatement. Haven't had the chance yet? Anthony Bourdain once declared Zubuchon as "the best pig ever." We agree.
Joel Binamira shares that Zubuchon will open "about 50 or 100 meters behind Makati Fire Station," in Ayala Avenue. He also hinted that he'll do taste-testing with select Instagram followers by the end of February, details to follow. Cue the constant refreshing!
"But I promised myself that I'd eat more veggies this year..." But have you seen that crispy, shiny, pork skin? Can you really resist?
Maybe you can counter that lechon with an extra hour of cardio.
Well, there goes your New Year's resolution. But hey, Zubuchon is planning to open hopefully by the end of February, so you still have a month to meet those fitness goals before you feast on lechon. At least you tried?
