(SPOT.ph) When it comes to chocolate, a lot of our local chocolatiers have long proven that they are among the best—and one of the most popular is Malagos Chocolate from Davao. The bean-to-bar chocolate makers started the year strong, with their cacao recognized as Heirloom Cacao by the Heirloom CaÂcao Preservation Fund—this just means they are now officially producers of one of the best cacao beans in the world. Aside from awards, they've also actively collaborated with local brands, latest of which is Max's Restaurant, specifically Max's Corner Bakery, which now have a line of desserts made with Malagos chocolate.

There are three desserts in the Malagos Chocolate Collection: There's the Malagos Caramel Bar (P115/nine pieces, P237/18 pieces), a twist on the classic dessert from Max's with a layer of Malagos dark-chocolate brownie on top of a caramel-bar layer. The Malagos Brownies (P160/six pieces) is extra fudgy and rich from the addition of Malagos dark chocolate.

But perhaps the most decadent dessert is the Malagos Chocolate Mousse Cake (P699) with layers of chocolate fudge cake, crisp feuilletine, and a layer of chocolate mousse made with Malagos chocolate. The cake is then topped with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, cocoa nibs, and dark-chocolate shavings.Â
