(SPOT.ph) To attempt to capture the shift of the Metro’s continually-evolving food scene over a year into a 50-item list is no easy task. But persevere, we did—and the result is our list of the 50 Great Restaurants of 2019. To commemorate its release (we swear we weren’t just looking for an excuse to party), we decided to celebrate with a bang—that is, with a small event to shine the spotlight on the restaurants, held on November 25 at Marco Polo Ortigas.
Bringing life to the event were hosts Mark Suntay and our own Michiko Manalang, who exchanged stories on their experiences (and favorite dishes) from the restaurants on the list. The aforementioned restaurants were presented with tokens by the SPOT.ph team through Joanna Manalastas Calasanz, editor-in-chief. Guests feasted on a four-course dinner courtesy of Marco Polo, and fantastic beer from Joe's Brew.
With a lineup that ranges from neighborhood cafes to homegrown concepts to international franchises, it’s evident that Manila’s dining sphere only continues to grow and expand as time moves forward. We can only imagine what’s in store in the years to come.
